Monotah had been late for class once again, and had had a extremly diffifult time finding the stables, but she finally found it. She looked at each horse, looking for Kindred, the horse her father got her a couple years a go. Her blue eys sptted her brown thourobred, and she couldn't be happier. She ran towards Kindred, and gave her the carrot she had brought for her.
"Are you ready to ride," Monotah said silently. Her horse neighed gleefully, obviously meaning that she couldn't wait. Monotah started putting the saddle on Kindred, and tacking her up. Monotah double checked everything, and found that the saddle was too tight, so she loosened it up a bit. Once done, she lead Kindred into the arena, and then promptly got on to her.
"Sorry that I'm late professor, I had a hard time getting her. There are so many different arenas, I didn't know which one was this one," she said quitely.

"No problem." Peregrine said.
“The first thing I am going to teach you how to do is to halt.” Peregrine said. He stood in the center of the arena, holding Vollo’s reins in one hand. He was able to project his voice across the ring so that his students could hear him.
“To halt, first sit up straight and make sure your shoulders are “open”, meaning that they are squared and straight. Then close your legs around your horse’s barrel. Don’t squeeze or spur him, just close them so that he can felt that they’re there. Then squeeze the reins in your hands as if you were squeezing water out of a sponge. Don’t pull or yank, just squeeze them.” Peregrine instructed.

"Good Mizukey." Peregrine said, "Can you get Midnight to come to a complete stand-still?" Peregrine asked in a kind way.

Mizu gripped the reins a little tighter and pushed in her legs a little farther, and finally Midnight came to a complete stop. Mizu smiled and patted her horse's neck, proud of her

"Good Mizukey." Peregrine said, "3 points to The Spies for that excellent halt. Could I get anyone else to perform the halt?"

This was extremely easy for Monotah to do since she had done it a million times before. Monotah nudged Kindred in the right part, and pulled on the reins. Kindred promptly stopped. "Good girl," she whispered to Kindred near Kindred's ear.

Peregrine considered Monotah's halt.
"Good," He said, "But please do it again and this time not so much pulling on the reins and more gradual half-halts, make it seem like the reins are peanut butter flowing through your fingers. You squeeze the reins gently but firmly and sit down and put your leg on slightly. Please try it again."

Icari muttered something to himself about his "demon horse". But he was able to clamp his legs around Mave's sides while not applying too much pressure. Icari then gripped the reins. what a stubborn horse. You can't get him to stop without hurting him a little. But anybody else woudn't be able to stay on Maverick for more than two seconds, much less stop him.
The horse came to a complete halt, and Icari whispered something in its ear. Most likely a word of congratulations for not embarassing him.

"Would you please try that again, Icari?" Peregrine said, "That halt was very abrubt. Try and make it more gradual, and I feel really stupid saying this but, flowing." He said the last word with some disgust.

Blood galloped into the arena on Bo, who looked like he was flying, and came to a halt before Peregrine. Jumping of Bo, Blood fell to his knees, took his cap off and started rushing an apology off his tongue. Then remembering that Peregrine was a Silmaril Knight, not one from where he came from, stood up and put the cap back on his head. " I'm sorry I am late Professer, I forgot my way around and found myself near the woods." Blood stopped speaking and remembered a time not long ago when he'd been in a wood. Blushing, which was quite hard for his dark complextion, he rushed on. "I finally found my way here and was afraid that the lesson had ended."

"No problem at all." Peregrine said, "actually the lesson has just begun. We are doing halting as you can see. Here are my instructions." Then he reated the speal he had said for his other students earlier.
“The first thing I am going to teach you how to do is to halt.” Peregrine said. He stood in the center of the arena, holding Vollo’s reins in one hand. He was able to project his voice across the ring so that his students could hear him.
