Lila didn't expect Eoin to answer, nor did she want it she'd seen villages here and the conditions they lived in, with his, "That's terrible...", she replaced her expression with one of contempt for those who had made these people live as they did, knowing that there were many who were much worse off than she was.
“How did you come to be on this island?”
Hearing the question Lila was delighted for the distraction, even though she didn't have very good story telling skills. A micheiviousness clouding her eyes as she looked up into the morning sun a smile hovering on her lips with the memory. " This was funny as to how I got here cause basically I got lost out on the waters, "Lila scottish burr tinged with her irish accent giving away her exciement.
"I had left some port in Ireland o the west coast, not sure which port but anyways, I was well thought I was heading up towards Scotland. But in my confused state, me the stupid girl I am threw the map that an inn keeper had given me overboard, and just quite literally got lost. And well yes I never even knew this place was here, and i'm not even sure of the name still." She stopped for a breath and continued," But here I am after actually a very frustrating journey, on my account, that made me very nearly want to jump overboard and swim to the nearest island. Though I veyr much thankgod that i found this place before I did." Looking up at Eoin smiling and said," and so here i am talking to you."

Eoin smiled wryly as Lila concluded her tale, feeling a small twinge of jealousy. She had been all over the world it seemed, whereas he had never been off Shetland, his own personal prison.
Ever since The Incident several years before, Eoin had longed to get off the island and away from the memories of his twin. Every day Eoin would wake up, and expect to see his face, or he would be out walking and be sure that he was only just a step behind. It was hard, trying to think about life without his twin, so more often than not, Eoin did not think about it. Somewhere in the back of his mind, Eoin knew this constant state of mourning and denial was bad for him, but Eoin did not want to face life and reality just yet. He knew his mother was worried about him, for grieving so long, but Eoin could not understand how she could let go so easily. It seemed everyone in his family besides him was content to just forgetting everything that happened.
Nevertheless, there was no escaping Shetland Island. If there had been a way off, everyone would have left by now. Even those who did not affiliate with the Flames or the blasted Irons wished they could get off this stinking rock.
After a moment of silence, Eoin realized Lila had stopped talking, and that he should probably say something.
“That is some story. It sounds as though you’ve been just about everywhere.” Eoin said appreciatively, smiling at Lila. “Why would you throw a map overboard?” He asked, a thought occurring to him. Had he been on a boat in open water, there was no way he would be throwing a map into the water. However, Lila was not him, so perhaps she had a good reason to be throwing such an important thing into the water.
They were nearly halfway now, about a half hour or so away from home. The trees were just as close together as before, but in about twenty minutes, it would start to thin out quite a bit. After that would be grassland, and then they would have reached village of Imreas, sad little thing that it was.

Seeing his wry smile from the corner of her eye as she looked at ahead, Lila's mouth curved into a broader smile as she walked along beside Eoin with a slight spring in her step.
Then listening to his statement she looked up to see a appreciative smile that curved his lips, she smiled back " Well it was worth it, cause for all the hard times i've had" saying this a thought passed through her head ' Like being thrown out of pub' going on she said, "there were the good times that made up for it." Finishing she went back to looking ahead of her and suddenly wondered for no reason at all if anyone from this island that Eoin belonged to had ever been away from it.
“Why would you throw a map overboard?”
His question interupting her thoughts Lila looked bakc up at him and smiling she face d forward again and said " That I must say was the stupidest thing i've ever done in my life," grinning at the end of this she went on and said, " I think I did it cause I was getting frustrated cause i got really confused with it and so in a ft of anger I threw it overboard," shrugging she flashed a grin up at him and faced forward again.

“That makes sense, I suppose.” Eoin said, laughing. “What’s it like, seeing different countries?” His voice practically dripped with wistfulness. “I’ve heard stories, of course, about different countries. We get the occasional shipwrecked souls, but once you land here, that is it. We cannot build ships or the like, and if we did, we would not know how to sail it. Sure, we get the odd pirate now and then, but they never stay long, and they seem more interested in pillaging and killing then they do in ferrying passengers.” Eoin sighed. “It’s just as well, I suppose. It would be horrible should the Irons get a chance to get off this island. I don’t mind being trapped here, so long as they are trapped with me.” His voice hardened a steely glint in his eyes.
Eoin hooked his thumbs in his belt, staring ahead as he got lost in his thoughts.
While every Flame wished to get off the island and rejoin their ancestors in their homeland, the blasted Irons wanted nothing less to kill their supposed captors. To Eoin, not only had the Irons killed his twin, but also now, they wished to kill the rest of his family, however far removed they maybe. Eoin would happily do anything to thwart their morbid dreams, even if it meant a lifetime of torment.

Hearing the wistfulness in Eoin's voice made Lila's smile grow wider as she looked ahead of to see that the woods had thinned out. Then suddenly a hardness edged his voice has he came to the end of his talk, one that she couldn't mistake for the hatred he held for these people called 'The Irons'. A frown tracing her features Lila wondered what had caused such hatred, but in the end decided it wasn't her business.
Looking up at Eoin, she fought around in her head to try and find a way to lighten the mood. Seeing the light she said cheerfully refering to his first question " It's interesting seeing different countries, there's so much to see and do but considering my restriction of the amount of languages, i know which is basically none other than english, it's hard to understand things." Chuckling at this she went on, " I had tendency of making a fool of myself in France, then again in Holland, so that's why now I only really make my way around England, Ireland, Scotland, and the occasional visit to Wales," her word fading into thoughts, a smile hovered on her lips again as she took a quick look at Eoin beside her then looked forward again.

Eoin’s eyes widened. Scotland and Ireland had had heard much of, and England he about, and Wales sounded familiar. However, France and Holland? He had not heard of those places. He scratched his head absently, looking at the girl walking beside him.
“Where is France? And Holland? I have never heard of them before.” He asked, curious. He loved nothing more than to whittle and listen to the stories of the old sailors and travelers who found themselves trapped on Shetland. Most of them were fantastic tales filled with danger and heroism and not much truth, but Eoin loved to hear about the ports and cities and countries that he would never see.
His father told Eoin to stop filling his head with stories, that he would only be worse off, knowing about the places and never getting to see them. Nevertheless, Eoin would much rather dream of a bigger world then the one he was trapped in, even if his dreams stayed just that: dreams.
Shaking his head slightly, Eoin ducked under a low hanging branch, and focused once more on their conversation.

“Where is France? And Holland? I have never heard of them before.”
His curiosity somewhat infectious Lila thought about what she wanted to asked Eoin about this place, she pushed the questions to teh back of her mind and put her mind to answering his questions first. " Well there's a big stretch of sea between England and France," saying this she used her hands, gesturing with them a big gap that represented the stretch of sea. " And so I sailed across that leaving behind, the weirdest English port I've ever been to, strange people they were, very strange," stifling a giggle she dropped her hands and stuffed them in her pockets as a broad smile etched itself on her face.
" So sailing across the stretch of sea I landed in a french port, went to have a look around, and discovering that I had certainly throughout the past six years forgotten all my faher had taught me of the french language. so only being able to say hello and goodbye, wasn't exactly pleasant especially when I went into a pub once wanting a drink of ale, and stupid me says something that they thought was quite rude. I was that close," putting up her fore finger and thumb with a little space between them, " to being kicked out. Why I wasn't kicked out was 'cause of my spirited sign language that really wasn't sign language, just pointing to things and me showing the money I had to pay for what I wanted saved me from a umm... i'm not sure how they would've handled me, maybe not like they would in Dublin. Oh well, i'll never know since it didn't happen so no point in thinking about it," chuckling Lila looked up at Eoin a smile on her face as she looked forward again.
"Then from France I sailed up the coast, can't remember how far but it wasn't to far," thinking for a second when she said this Lila looked back up at him and then forward again saying, "Same thing happened, just I wasn't so lucky with my sign langauge, tis time it got me thrown out and thank my lucky stars I only went away with a couple of bruises."
"That incident though wasn't going to dispirit me in my adventure, so I looked around and found some people who spoke english. They helped me a bit and taught me some Dutch which is the language of the people from Holland. So what they taught I can say was very helpful in well everything I did until I left, and that was really it." Finishing off Lila looked down at her boots, a smile on her face as she saw the leather scuffed and close to ruin if she didn't get them cleaned properly soon.

Eoin nodded, letting the rush her voice roll over him. It seemed, once one hit a favored topic, she could and would go on for hours. Eoin himself was not much of a talker; he preferred to listen to others talk. Lila, however, talked almost as much as the gossiping Aunts who all sat together shelling beans and that sort of thing, each one talking over the other. Her speech ran all over the place in such a way that made it hard to follow, especially with her accent. After he sorted out all of the sidetracks and other things, he was able to look at the whole story.
While it did not tell him where the two countries were, it was interesting to hear about the countries. It amused him to think about the talkative girl beside him nearly being thrown out of at least two countries.
“Are you often threatened with expulsion?” Eoin asked, thinking about how impossible it would be for those of Shetland Island to expel someone from the island, seeing how they were unable to leave themselves.
The trees were beginning to thin rapidly; large patches of the clear blue sky were visible between the branches of leave. Eoin rolled his shoulder absently, wanting to pick up the pace, but restraining himself. It was a test of his patience, walking with Lila. Her chatter was a nice change from the usual quite of the forest, but he was irritated slightly at their slow pace.

" hmmm....., well yes and no. Usually it depends on how much i drink, i have this well tendency to drink more than I should which is a real problem of mine," Lila said this as she looked down and appeared to be thinking.
Walking on she glanced up at Eoin, then facing forward she also noticed the rapid change in the thinning of the trees hat not long ago had surrounded them. Sensing an irriation as she quickly slid another glance at him Lila picked up her a bit so he could make larger strides, as looking forward again she hoped her short strided were the only thing that irritated him. Looking about her again a wry smile gently curved her lips as she saw the bright blue skies the peeked through the wider gaps of the thinning amount of trees.

“A drinking problem?” Eoin asked, faintly disturbed at the notion. Eoin himself did not partake of the drink that passed for alcohol in Shetland. He did not care for the foul taste of the stuff, or for the pounding headache that always seemed to come after drinking the stuff. He knew that there was better selections out in the wide world, the pirates who stopped by were always complaining about the quality, though it did not seem to disgust them so much, for they always drunk copious amounts before they left. Perhaps it had been how he was raised by his mother, who detested everything about liquor, from the smell, to the taste, to how it made one act while under its influences, but Eoin had been under the impression that only people of bad repute would drink the stuff, and it was unheard of for a lady to drink. Of course, there had been the occasional lady pirate who joined in with the men, but his mother would have skinned him alive if she saw him associated with the pirates, so he never got around to seeing if they also drank.
Eoin shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts, and noticed Lila had sped up some. With a silent sigh of relief, He lengthened his stride it still was not as fast as he would like, but it was better than what it had been. Still curious about her life as a traveler, Eoin decided to ask her about something that he had been wondering about ever since he had first learned one could travel on the sea.
“What is it like, living on the sea? I mean, I imagine it would take some time to travel between places, yes? Is the sea always moving, or does it flatten out some? How do you get water to drink? Are there truly huge fish out there that could swallow a man whole?
Like a dam that suddenly broke, the questions burst forth. Eoin turned slightly, so he could watch Lila and the path, anxious to hear the answers. For every question he had asked, a hundred more lay restlessly below the surface, waiting to be let free.

Smiling Lila slid a glance at Eoin to see and anxiousness in his expression as he had turned his head slightly to look at her, but still was able to see where he was walking. Facing forward again she said" Living on the sea is well exciting actually now i think about, waking up to the smell of salt water is nice, but you'd be mad to live on a boat all the time." Smiling up at him she said, "And yes it does take time to travel between places, it depends how far your travelling, though the longest i've ever been on a ship is maybe 2 months or something like that i really can't remember now it was quite awhile ago" Looking down at her feet Lila tried to remember when it was, in the end failing to she looked up ahead.
"So your next question, umm... the sea, the sea, it's hard to explain actually the sea it something i would that never stops moving, it will flatten out,but it just won't stop," saying this Lila's lips curved at her very weird understanding of how the sea acted. "And drinking water well, i probably do it differently to others I'm not sure but I usually have to gather my water from whatever fresh water streams I find before I go to sail, and i seem to always bring enough with me which is a good thing and yea. Huge fish well there are huge fish called sharks, but i've never seen one though and i'm not sure that they could swallow a man whole though..." thinking for a bit she said " even though from the stories i've been told they say there are some that can do that, eat a man whole....."
Looking up at Eoin again she smiled and asked" anymore questions you want answered? or is that the end of your tirade of questions for now???". Chuckling she looked towards the opening that the thinning trees had created.
(sorry i ahven't posted for so long it's just that i've been real busy with homework and assignments this past month so yea sorry)
