So, as some of you know, I've been watching Merlin BBC lately and I must say it's rather good, when you overlook the blatant English errors. I mean "hey"? But other than that it's a rather AU version of Arthurian legend and it's also quite addicting. So, to get you poor, innocent people started, here is the first episode: ``The Dragon's Call part onepart twopart threepart fourpart five

I only watched about half of the first part of the first episode, and it looks really good so far. however, it doesn't have subtitles/captions, and I absolutely refuse to start watching a show where I have no clue as to what's being said; it'd just get on my nerves incredibly and deminish the amount in which I enjoy the show [which I can tell that I would enjoy it immensely, were I able to get the full nine yards of it all.]
>_< until then, I'm going to be looking for online episodes that I don't have to download. darn it all to the turn and back. if you guys find anything like that, kindly lead the way and I'll follow. and this horse will drink at the water.
Haleigh, I'm going to make the assumption that you're talking about Uther, and concure with you; he's always an ass. and if you were talking about whatsitsface, Kay's father, well, then, no comment. XD

Sorry Moira, if I find anything, I'll post it here.
And yes, Haleigh was referring to Uther. In some legends he is a good king (like in T. H. White's Once and Future King) and Arthur, who is called "Wart" as a young boy, never knows his father or his true heritage and ends up pulling a sword out of a stone to show that he is king. Blah, blah, blah...
Anyway, Arthurian legend is quite varied from version to version. I chose to make Uther evil on SoS to add to the drama. Sir Ector (Kay's father) is a good guy though, but he tends to be a little slow on the uptake. But again, he's not in the show.

*nearly vomits*
Sorry, I just think Disney's "version" is an insult to Arthurian legend, no offense if you like it or anything.
Disney tried to imitate the Sword in the Stone story, which actually encompasses all of young Arthur's (aka Wart's) education until the time in which he becomes king. Now, while Merling BBC is AU, Disney's Sword in the Stone isn't Au -- it's disgusting. At least, that's what I think of it.

Each to their own, then; Actually, I thought it was a cute story; then again, I'm the Scottish Freak, not the British Freak *grin* BTW - what does "AU" stand for?

I remember being read The Sword in the Stone when I was about six or seven, so I've rather picky when it comes to British legends, particularly Arthurian.
AU = Alternate Universe, so for example, when you go join a Harry Potter site and Harry is dead, Hermione has gone to the dark side and Ron is gay for Cedric Diggory.

Sorry, well I'm practicly a Disney fanatic. So... and i respect your opinion in everyway Pip... trust me i've learned my lesson in the past...
BTW, it is quiet odd for a little boy to wanting to kill Arthur.

Mordred? Hehe, in traditional legend, Mordred is Arthur and Morgana's (they're half brother and half sister in traditional myth) son. Yes, disgusting. Mordred is raised to hate Arthur and comes back to tear Camelot apart when Arthur is king.
So when my suspicion was confirmed and the boy said his name, I realized that he should have died. Of course, he's not Arthur's son in Merlin BBC, (he and Morgana aren't even bro and sis in this version) but I predict young Mordred will be back to get Arthur.
And his druid's cloak-thingy is sooooooo cool. Sorry, I really likes clothes like that. Also, I has a discovery:
Merlin "Patsy" Embrys.
LOL (Monty Python reference)
