Logins and Logouts: It's been said that you have to log in every single time you want to chat. Not true -- my computer/s always (except when the cookies have been messed with) remember me. And it's really neat because you can log in, and log out, and log in, and log out. And when you want to be an annoyminous guest, you can always log out and be an "Anon"

The Looks: While I must concur when saying that the cbox looks better than the chatango, I also find it to be a small thing. Looks and indeed beauty is not everything. It's superficial, and it's rather shallow-minded, in my opinion. It's like buying a horse because it's a pretty color and not even bothering to check it's temperment or training. As in, it's a mistake, and you should always go for a test run before just making up your mind. Thorough research is a good idea, as well. And just like ther cbox - you can change the chatango color schemes (and might I mention that there are tons more to chose from than in cbox?) and you can make custom schemes as well. Personally, I always use the trasparent, which blends right in with the site color scheme.
as a side note: you say that chatango is ugly and hideous and annoying? I can refute that: just go and look at the
XAT CHAT (<--link). can you honestly like that one better than chatango? *raised eyebrows*

Accounts: Yes, you can create accounts, for free, without paying a single dime to Chatango (which you'd have to do in the c-box). And the names are highly individual -- there will never be another person in the world that has your account name while you have you account -- cuts back quite a bit on impersonations. The names are yours to choose, and even if you can get the EXACT name that you want, there's bound to be several that you could use/would want to use (I myself have three accounts, Sandetiger, Pureginius, & Nuttytreekitty). The profile things are purely optional, and if you want to fill them out, you can (but you don't HAVE to.)

Creating a Group: unlike in the Cbox, once you create an account, you can make unlimited chat groups. Yep, that's right, instead of having to create a new account every time you want a new cbox group, you can just log into ONE chatango account and create as many as you want, free. And they'll all be in one spot, so you don't have to do much hunting around.

The Actual Chat: The pinging/beepy noise is an added bonus, if you ask me. It alerts you to when people have typed something. And when you don't want to listen to it, it can be TURNED OFF. Wow. And it has an automatic refresh, which is wonderful because some people are really sick of having to push the refresh button (I for one.) I like being up-to-date and right away. And for those of you who don't speed read, or just want to find out what others said while they were gone, the Chatango device actually stores the previous messages in the chat on the site, all the way to day one. Which is way better than cbox, which only goes back to a certain amount of posts on-site, and the rest of the archives have to be hunted down by the creator of the cbox, who has to go to the cbox webpage, log in, and then find the archives, before searching; on chatango, the archives are just a scroll up and a button click away (or a scroll down, depending on what setting you chose.) And not but least, if you want to chat one-on-one with another person, the chatango has a built in device that allows you to navigate to another pages and start up a private chat.

Moderation: If you want to moderate a a cbox, you have to go premium, which costs money. Worth it? Not really. But in the chatango, such things are free. You can ban words, ban IP addresses, delete posts, and block users. It also allows you to put in chat moderators. Think about it: have you ever had a moment where you wished you could delete something that someone had said (say, for instance, Deimos proposing to you? XD)? That would be an ideal time to utelize that ability.

The Gadgets: You say chatango looks complicated? I say it's a jungle just waiting to be explored. It's easy to join, and once you do, you can take your own sweet time exploring and messing around with all the cool buttons and drop-downs. For instead of using (minimal) tags, all you have to do is push a button or choose a selection from a dropdown; and there are so many more options. Rather than "big" or "small" as text sizes, you can use size 8 and up. There are quite a few fonts to choose from, and you can even alter the color of your text, your display name, and your background (you can even use an image for your background.) The bold, underline, and italic options are all buttons, and are much more convenient to use than tags. They're easier to use and easier to figure out (and in my mind, that's much more attractive to a newbie than the cbox and the tags, which aren't even readily available like they are in a proboards post.)

Posting/Typing: Okay, I know one the the things that irritates me the MOST about the cbox (among other things) is the fact that we can only type up to 100 characters (inclding spaces. >___< Gawd, it's so annoying when you're typing up a meesage, and you have to break it up into several posts; more often that not, the posts will be separated by other people's posts, and it's just every annoying in general. And what really bites at my craw is the fact that sometimes, when postings URLs/links, the URLs/links will me broken because they have more than 100 characters, thus rendering the URLs/links useless. Chatango, however, eliminates that: I'm not sure of the exact post length, but it's quite long, and allows for a long message.
start of postend of post[/li][li]
Other Stuffness: For one, the chatango let's you know how many people are online in real time: this includes the spambots (yes, yes, we all know they exist), the guests visiting the site, the members that haven't logged in, and the members that are logged in. They also let you know when a person has left or has refreshed a page/gone to a different page. ---> and this is all with un-altered settings; you can change the setting to show only friends or only registered people;; For two, it has awesome smilies, which are interactive and move! For three, if you want to use an image, all you have to do is upload once, and it's there forever (or until you want a new one.) You don't have to always insert the URL.
And while I do understand that the chatango sends some of the members' computers on a fender bender, I have never, and I repeat NEVER, had any sort of trouble with the chatango like I'm having with the cbox.
