Emlyn tried not to look at her as she demanded to be put down, he just had to ignore the fact that he was carrying her completely. He was only doing what he had to do, and nothing more. He had no reason to be embarrassed or to have to explain himself. He tried to concentrate only on the signs that littered the town, hoping that one of them would point him to a healer or physician or anyone that might be able to help. He was sure that she was just trying to make it seem smaller than it was, perhaps because she was embarrassed.
"If you walk, you'll just make it bleed more," he said stoically, keeping his eyes forward, "you don't want to jar it, in case he got your spinal cord. Do you want to lose the use of your arms?" Even though he had run away before he had officially been signed in to the Russian army, he had the no-nonsense attitude of a soldier. She was getting on his nerves slightly. She before had told him to go see a healer, he didn't think she would be this reluctant to see one herself. And he wasn't just going to tell her to see one and leave. He thought that perhaps he knew a little bit more about anatomy then she did, and that it could be more serious than she thought.
"Yes, they trained us hard there," he answered in response to her question. It had been hard, for they had basically been treated like real soldiers only without the benefits and at a much younger age. He remembered sloshing in the mud, going for two days without food, standing in the rain while not being able to move an inch, and being forced into the snow while wearing only summer gear. It had made him stronger, which he was thankful for, but the memories were bitter.

Ceara grumbled unhappily, muttering to herself about how it hadn't hit her spine and how she wouldn't lose the use of her arms. However, she gave up trying to make him put her down. If a guy didn't put a girl down after she demanded he do so, he likely had no plan on doing it no matter what she said. Besides, she was a little touched that he was willing to carry her to a healer. She was glad he seemed to be worried that she was more hurt than she thought. Thinking that only made more heat come to her cheeks, though a small smile came to her face as well.
A mischievous grin came to her face as she suddenly got an idea. "Alright. How about this than, Emlyn. Since I somehow doubt you actually went to see a healer for your shoulder, you do that now. We'll get our wounds checked out at the same time, it's only fair." She said, her grin still in place this time. Going to see a healer would be worth if Emlyn got his shoulder wound checked out as well.
She thought back to her own training to become a knight, and she was pretty sure it was much easier than Emlyn's training. "Is that how you got those scars on your back?" She asked, her voice gentle this time. She hated when people found out about her own scar, and again when people talked about it, and she figured Emlyn would too. But she was curious and she decided after he answered that she'd try never to mention it again. "And do you regret it now? You're an amazing fighter now, but you had to go through a lot to get it," She was just guessing he'd gone through a lot, but she doubted she was wrong. "So if you could change the past, would you? Would you somehow keep yourself from going there?" She wasn't sure why she was so curious. Maybe she was just trying to take her mind off the fact that he was carrying her, since it did in fact embarrass her, but she was also really curious about what his answer would be._________________________________________ Words: 390 Mood: Good Notes: Go Emlyn xD

It didn't take much to get into the kingdom of Saor. Aithne knew that if she were questioned about anything, all she would have to do was say that she was from Skye. It surprised her how much Saor insisted that her country was some sort of 'protectorate', but, needless to say, the only reason she was in the country was for the sake of her hobby and job. The basket that she held was already full of verdure, and Aithne made sure the sprinkle the greenery with water. The only thing other than water that was accompanying the herbs was a small wooden bowl and a small, refined block of wood.
Her footsteps made a light knocking noise as she walked. Many people were crowding the streets, and Aithne had to admit the number of people made her nervous. You never knew when something would go wrong. Aithne pulled up her woolen shawl over her head, and it appeared as if she were hiding from the army of people. But, once she found refuge in the comfort of her shawl, everything started to settle down in her mind.
"If you walk, you'll just make it bleed more." Aithne couldn't help but hear the words of this person, especially since they uttered a word that had to do with pain. She turned her body completely around, searching for the person's voice so that she could find them. But, what would she do if she found that person? There was one thing she knew, and it was that the voice belonged to a man.
Her arm was shoved aside by a burly man that was walking down the streets. "Out of the way, girl!" he screamed at her. But, as soon as he was there, he was gone. Ouch, well, that hurt her feelings a bit. Her face pulled down into a frown as her ears continued to search for the person. "Yes, they trained us hard there." There was the voice again! Her face lit up as she pushed through the crowds to reach the person. Aithne soon realized how hard it was to walked through a crowd that was going in a different direction. But, nevertheless, she made her way through, until she saw a man holding a figure. She quickened her pace until she saw that the figure was a woman. Aithne reached into her dress' pocket, feeling for the right vile. She was fully prepared to help. As she neared closer, Aithne opened her mouth to speak, "Excuse me, do you need help?"[/sup]

Emlyn winced when she mentioned getting his wound checked. Was he that easy to read? Sure, he was carrying his left shoulder a little bit awkwardly, but he didn't think that she would've been able to notice. He still held firm that he didn't need it looked at, she had wrapped it tightly enough that it probably hadn't gotten infected, at least, he thought that was something that would help. But did it really matter? He tried to remember the short course on first aid he had taken. He would just ignore her, they would come to the obstacle of his shoulder when they found someone who could help them.
Then she asked him about the scars on his back and he tensed up. His scars were...humiliating. They were not achieved in battle, or saving someone's life. They were from his failures. This also meant that she had definitely noticed his scars before, which automatically made him hunch up slightly. He should've just left the star in there until she had left and taken care of it himself...that was what a soldier would've done, instead of letting a girl take care of them.
"Yes," he breathed in deeply, "they whipped us when we failed," he paused, "we had to...wear woolen horse blankets and run fives miles in the summer. I fell down, and stayed down." He immediately regretted saying that, he shouldn't have just said one of his weaknesses to someone he had only seen twice. He stopped there, and didn't explain any of the others, for he hadn't just failed at the heat training, but also the climbing, and handling panicking civilians. Heat, heights, and people...three very important things. He could handle the dark, the wet, the solidarity, the cold, and any combat he came across, but those three things always seemed to stop him.
"No, I'd still do it," he said hardly, "that training made me who I am." Of course he had hated the training, but he had dealed, and now he was resistant, and ready for whatever life would throw at him. He just hadn't wanted killing to be his career. Killing was different from protecting, especially if it was for reasons you didn't even know.
Then he saw a young, and very beautiful girl obviously heading straight for them. He was starting to wonder what in the world someone like her would want with him when she asked him if they needed any help. Gulping, he looked at the ground.
"Yes...we were attacked and she got hurt on his back," he explained.

Ceara felt that Emlyn tensed when she asked him about his scars, but she was glad that he still told her how it had happened. It angered her, hearing that someone had whipped him just because he wasn't as good as one thing as he may have been in another. She even clenched her fists, her eyes narrowing, wishing she could punch whoever had whipped him. She caught herself thinking that and immediately pushed that thought out of her mind, wondering why she cared so much. It's not like Emlyn was someone she'd known for ages...though she was so comfortable around him that some people might wonder. She no longer really cared that he was carrying her, just that people were staring.
"That's horrible." She said simply, sounding annoyed. Not at him, of course. Just the people that had whipped him. "You can't be good at everything." She finished, before deciding she didn't want to think about that anymore. It really was just getting her angry. She stayed silent as he said that he would still redo his training, and nodded. She understood, even if she hated hearing that they'd punished him in such a horrible way." Excuse me, do you need help?" She looked up, surprised to see the beautiful woman standing there. Someone was actually coming up to them and asking if they needed help? That was probably the nicest thing a stranger had ever done for her...not counting what Emlyn was doing now, but she didn't count him as a stranger anymore, she counted him as a friend. A close friend that she really really liked. Still, it embarrassed her slightly that now a complete stranger was trying to help her. She didn't need help, she was fine! Still, she sighed quietly and said nothing more at first, letting Emlyn handle it. It wasn't until the young woman spoke again, telling Emlyn to hold her in a way that the woman could get a look at her back that she felt a need to speak up.
"No! No, no, no, no, no. Please no. Not here, at least. Can we go somewhere less...crowded? Please?" Her eyes were slightly wild with panic now as she actually struggled slightly in Emlyn's arms. She wasn't about to take her shirt off in front of this many people, and it wasn't even because she was modest. It was because she didn't want this man people to see the scar on her back. Emlyn could see it, fine, and this woman could see it too if she was going to treat her fresh injury, but she was not about to let people walking by on the street know that her back was her weak spot, and have them start wondering how she had gotten it. Her scar wasn't like Emlyn's scars, she had kind of figured that his scars came from being whipped. Her scar was in the shape of a large X. You couldn't exactly get that from being whipped._________________________________________ Words: 535 Mood: Quite good Notes: They can even go into an alley, just not right there in public xD

Emlyn almost stepped backwards when the girl asked him to show her Ceara's back, but he stopped himself. Did he have to be like this with every new person he met? He just couldn't help it. Even though he had been able to talk, which was a major improvement, he still felt like disappearing into the ground, knowing that he would screw up badly and make a complete fool of himself, the question was only how he would do so, and he was not in a rush to find out. He wished he had paid more attention to first aid so that he could've fixed her himself.
Then Ceara practically started begging him to take her somewhere else. After what he had gone through, he couldn't help but think, Revenge! However, he would not be that cruel. She was a girl, and when it was him, it hadn't been in front of a crowd either. And anyway, she probably wouldn't cooperate and would try to get away, and possibly injure herself more. If finding a more reclusive place was what it would take to keep her quiet, then find a place like that he would.
"Okay," he muttered, trying to make the least amount of noise possible around the other girl, still wondering when he would make a complete fool of himself. he started off walking again, and then made eye contact with her for just a split second, trying to show he wanted her to follow them, and then quickly took off again. Thankfully, they were close to end of the market, and once he took a turn off the main road, there were barely any people. So he set Ceara down behind a cart and crouched down beside her.

Aithe was truly confused about the public display that the woman had made. But, Aithne had to remind herself to put herself in someone else's shoes. Then again, she would want her back healed or at least cleaned as soon as possible. Once Aithne studied the woman's body more, she saw that the woman was clearly strong, or at least strong than Aithne would ever be. For at least twenty seconds, Aithne was jealous. Wait! She shouldn't be thinking like that at a time like this!
Of all of her forty-three years of living, Aithne had never had the luck of having some antidotes with her when a situation like so occurred. Usually, she'd have to mix together something fast. So, at this time, she actually felt relieved. As if it wasn't so much of a burden to help out someone this time. Of course she loved to help people, but it always came at a price for her...
"Okay." Aithne was perplexed, for she didn't know what the simple word meant. She just assumed that he was a man of few words, and that thought was followed by a mental shrug. Her eyes stared at him and the woman, wondering what would happen next. He looked at her, which she found a little... different. Aithne quickly looked to her right side, away from them. Once she looked back and saw him walking off, Aithne immediately bent over and picked up her basket (and made sure not to dirty her hands) only to rush off to catch up with him.
Her pace slowed once she turned, and by the time she did, the man already placed the woman down. Aithne walked behind the cart and bent down behind the woman. She lifted up the woman's shirt, just barely over her head, so that she could see exactly what she was doing. Aithne stared at the wound, and she touched it with her right index finger. "Hmm...," she thought, wondering what would be the best thing to do. "This might sting... a little," she said, softly. She opened the vial with the clear liquid in it before pouring it across the wound. Aithne prepared herself, wondering how the woman would react to the powerful elixir.

Ceara relaxed as Emlyn agreed to take her somewhere less open and she stopped struggling, instead just fretting over showing people her scar. Okay, maybe she had issues when it came to that, but she had enough nightmares about the night she had received it as it was. If everytime someone touched it too hard she broke down mentally and had to relive that night even while she was awake, it was pretty obvious that she wouldn't want more people knowing about it. Especially her enemies. It would pretty much guarantee that she lost any and every match if her enemies knew her back was her weak spot.
"Thank you...for everything." She said quietly to Emlyn as he set her down on the ground behind the cart. If people saw them there it would look a little strange, but there was no where near as many people around on this street as there was on the last. Besides, even if one of the few people walking down the street noticed them, it's not like they would see her scar, so she didn't care so much. She rolled over onto her stomach as she was set down, folding her arms before her and using them as a pillow for her head. She helped the woman take off her shirt, so that she lay on her stomach on the ground before the woman and Emlyn, wearing only her breast band over her torso.
She did her best not to think about the large X shaped scar on her back, which started just below each shoulder blade and ended at her hips. The newly made cut was a horizontal line halfway down her back. She nodded her head as the woman warned her that whatever she was about to do might sting a bit, but didn't move otherwise. She kept glancing at Emlyn, though she wasn't sure why. It just made her feel better that he was there. The stinging she felt did hurt quite a bit, but other than the way she clenched her fists and pressed her lips tightly together, clenching her teeth, she didn't show it much.
"What's your name?" She asked the woman, deciding it would keep her mind off everything if she had a conversation with the woman. "I'm Ceara, and this is Emlyn." She finished. She sort of wondered what Emlyn thought of the woman. She was very beautiful, that much was obvious. She wondered whether Emlyn was attracted to the woman, though of course she wasn't about to ask.________________________________________ Words: 438 Mood: Good Notes: Ceara might be just a little bit jealous xD

Aithne looked down at the woman in awe. She had taken the powerful remedy well, even Aithne herself screamed from how fast it healed the body. She carefully watched how her flesh took the remedy. Aithne sat there on her knees for minutes, watching the liquid form of the solution foam over top her skin. She began counting down the seconds in her head, waiting for the right time to... "NOW!" she yelled in her head, as she opened her water flask and used the rest of the water to wash off the foam.
"What's your name?" && "I'm Ceara, and this is Emlyn." "Aithne," she replied, quietly. She was working, so chatting would just mess her up. But, she did wish to be polite, so she finished off her one-worded answer with a light smile. Soon after, her face shifted back to a serious look; it was time to work. Aithne looked in her pocket and basket for some sort of towel, but she couldn't find one. After pinching at her dress for a few seconds, she got an idea. Aithne ripped off a piece of her dress, which would be long enough for the wound.
She began to apply direct pressure onto the wound. One would think that the cloth would be stained red, but when she lifted the cloth and wiped off the excess liquid, there was no blood. The only thing left was a light-colored scar. Aithne smiled at her work, for she knew she had done well. After throwing the cloth into her basket, she stood back up, wiped the dirt off of her knees, and took the ribbon out of her hair. Aithne put the ribbon in her right pocket, and while doing so, she spoke in her petite, airy voice, "...does it feel better, Miss Ceara?"

Emlyn just looked away and muttered slightly when Ceara thanked him. There was no reason to thank him. He had done what any guy would have done, any respectable guy, at least, unless all chivalry had really disappeared from the world. He wouldn't have done that for some random stranger on the street, but he felt he owed her something, at least. She had helped him kill that murderer, and she caught his horse for him afterwards, and so far, Talisman hadn't attacked her yet, which meant she was at least slightly acceptable.
When she took off her shirt, Emlyn sucked in a breath and completely turned around, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of an oddly shaped scar on her back. How had she gotten something like that? He wanted to know, but he wasn't really the type of person to ask questions. He held his curiosity in check, like always. If she wanted to tell him, he'd listen, but he wouldn't pry. That was rude. He was only rude to his 'family' and people above him, and of course the people he fought against, but they didn't really count.
He was going to keep turned away when he realized he should watch to make sure that the girl was healing her. It would be hard to believe that such a petite and airy girl would hurt anyone, but then again, it was also hard to believe that a full grown man would attack a girl from behind. But when he turned around again, he watched with less scrutiny and more with awe. How was she able to heal a wound like that so fast? The skin was already healed up, and there wasn't even a scab...did she use magic? Or was she just an extremely good healer? He couldn't help but sputter slightly.
"How did you do that?" he asked.

Ceara nodded as the girl said her name but stayed quiet after that, realizing by the woman's one worded reply that she was a little busy. After the stinging had stopped, she didn't feel any pain, which surprised her. She waited, expecting the pain to come back, but as Aithne pulled away and asked her whether it felt better, she realized that she was finished healing her. She blinked a few times, turning her head to look at Aithne and Emlyn before reaching backwards with her hand and trying to feel where the wound had even been.
"Uhh..." She paused, pushing herself onto her hands and knees, expecting the pain to come back as she moved. "Yeah...It feels fine now." She said, sounding surprised. She slipped her shirt back on, still surprised and having completely forgotten that both Aithne and Emlyn had now seen the scar which she worked so hard on keeping a secret. She then grinned, glancing at Emlyn. "Do you think you could look at his shoulder quickly? He hurt it a few days ago...just to make sure it's healing okay and everything?" She asked quickly, hoping the woman wouldn't mind, and not caring whether Emlyn got annoyed at her for bringing it up. He seemed to be a lot like her when it came to getting injured and what did and didn't deserve to be looked at and healed. Anything less than a potentially fatal injury and she had to be forced to see a healer, otherwise she just wouldn't go._________________________________________ Words: 272 Mood: Good Notes: Uhhhh....nothing. Overall, the pain must've been worth it for the speedy healing process. Aithne smiled a more genuine, and rather big, smile. Her oddly-colored eyes watched the girl as she felt her back, and Aithne couldn't help but giggle a little from how proud she was. "Success!" she exclaimed in her brain. She arched her back over and looked down at the rip on her dress. "Hmm... nothing I can't fix with a little thread," she whispered to herself.
"How did you do that?" Aithne raised her right index finger to her bottom lip and she thought of the right words to say. "It's some what complicated. Mainly, my job is the search all over for the 'perfect' herbs and verdure. I make my mixes and elixirs," she said, her smile shrinking in size a bit, "...as I travel, I have the chance to see if my medicines work by using them on wounded people."
"Do you think you could look at his shoulder quickly? He hurt it a few days ago...just to make sure it's healing okay and everything?" Aithne, of course, would not refuse. She showed off a subtle smile before speaking with a little more seriousness in her tone, "...only if he allows me to." Aithne supposed that she was so focused on getting Ceara healed because she was a fellow woman, but healing a man without permission. Well, it was just something that she would not do.

Emlyn nodded and listened carefully as the girl spoke. To him, it was utterly amazing that someone could know so much about...plants. How did one even start? It was so bizarre and foreign to someone who had been trained to be a soldier, yet completely mesmerizing, and it made him long for the days before he had been sent to the academy, the days when he was given normal, proper education. How he had loved to read book after book in his favorite language, Italian, which he had also learned. Like his favorite series of books, Divinia Commedia, or The Divine Comedy. He still kept those books with him at all times, with his book of poetry. What would his life had been like if he had continued that education? He would've been less strong, but perhaps he would've been more like this girl, a knowledgeable person of society who made new discoveries to help people...
Then Ceara mentioned getting his shoulder checked. He could have killed her right then...but then...he was a practical person. If this girl was so gifted, perhaps it would be better to see what she could do. He certainly didn't want it to affect him for the rest of his life, and the throwing star had nicked his bone slightly. Though now, he had to go through It again, which he was definitely, certainly not looking forward too. But he nodded, giving the girl, Aithne, permission.
He easily slipped off the long leather coat he always wore, and hesitated as he put his hands on the ends of his shirt. In his mind, he was thinking, Female outside my family to see this number two. He assured himself that he had nothing to be embarrassed about, Ceara hadn't said anything before, but then again...she had been behind him. Gulping a breath and turning red, he pulled it off to reveal the white wrappings around his left shoulder. With fumbling hands as he tried to avoid making eye contact with either of the girls and also trying to use his arms to block their view as much as possible, he speedily unwrapped the cloth and tossed the bandage to the side, revealing a red-purple blotchy mark on his shoulder. A line of dried blood ran down the center of it, and Emlyn realized that he should have perhaps redone the bandages before and thoroughly cleaned it with water...it looked worse than it had a couple of days ago...

It surprised Aithne how reluctant he was to take off his top. Usually, men of his stature would love to show off their gleaming or not-so-gleaming muscles. The whole thing sort of vexed her brain. But, once he took the bandage off, Aithne immediately covered her mouth, slightly, with her right hand. "Oh my...," she thought, a disturbed frown danced on her face.
She flipped her curls back behind her shoulders while reaching in her pocket to get out the last weirdly-shaped vial and another circular vial that held a earthy-brown color. Aithne knelt back down beside him, with the two vials in her left hand. With her open right hand, she took up her ripped dress cloth and wiped off the remaining dried blood.
Putting the cloth back down in the basket, Aithne contemplated on what to do. Her eyes stared at his wound deeply, wondering if there was just something more to it than what appeared. It looked so much different than anything else she had seen before. "I'm not going to deceive you, this might hurt... a lot," she said, her frown deepening. Aithne took the brown liquid and coated it over his wound, allowing for it to soak in more. After a minute of soaking, she coated it with even more of the liquid. She looked at it even more to determine if it was permeating into his flesh.
She took the other vial, opening, and lathered some of the solution onto her fingers. After placing the glass down, she put her eight fingers on the other side of his arm, allowing her remaining thumb to rest on his wound. With one quick pinch, she made sure that the brown liquid got into his body; closer to his bone. Quickly, she took the weirdly-shaped vial and poured the elixir onto the wound and she began to rub it over the wound. A few more minutes passed and she stopped, holding direct pressure over the blotchy wound.
Aithne lifted her hands to reveal the wound to be a bit scabby, it seemed to be somewhat starting the scarring process, and the bitchiness was still there, but faded. Aithne ripped another, longer, piece of her dress off and lathered it in the clear liquid, before she began to wrap his arm; Aithne made sure it was snug.
