Fiddling her hands, Aithne looked back and forth between Ceara and her feet. She felt as if she needed to humble herself while in front of people who were so much stronger than she, especially Ceara. Ceara had a strong personality, which is what Aithne saw was ridiculously magnificent.
"Hey Aithne, can I ask you a question?" Her head stayed down, but her eyes looked up at Ceara. She gave a small smile, showing that she was willing to answer. But, Aithne because slightly confused when she wouldn't give her a straight question. Ceara said nevermind, but... Aithne was now interested in what she had to say.
Ceara went on the talk about the money issue. Aithne really hoped that she could tell her what to ask for, because she was clueless. As she listened to what she said, the noticed that Ceara wished to pay more than Emlyn did. Why was that? Maybe it was her personality... and Aithne had to admit that she admired her strong personality.
"Okay, then. I'll do that," she said with a light laugh. She bent down to put all of her glass vials in her basket. "Hey, Ceara...," her voice drifted off, before she began to speak again, "...what was it that you wanted to ask me?" Aithne picked up her basket and put her right arm through the loop; it dangled from her arm. Her eyes were staring at Ceara, waiting for the question. But, they weren't hard, more curious than anything else.

Ceara smiled a genuine smile and nodded, putting her wallet away. She wasn't really like most girls, she didn't like when guys offered to pay for her. It bothered her, for some reason. Besides, it made her feel good to know she'd paid for Emlyn's healing. She would have liked to pay for her own as well, but she knew that Emlyn would be back soon with his money and that he probably expected to pay for both his healing and her own, which was why she'd asked Aithne to charge him fifty dollars and say that it was in fact for both healings.
Her smile faded slightly as Aithne brought up the subject of what she'd been trying- unsuccessfully, obvious- to ask her. "Well, it was nothing...I was just...Do you know a lot about boys?" She asked. "What am I saying? Of course you must, guys must chasing you all over the place, you're so pretty. Because I don't know much when it comes to romance and..." She paused, hesitating and debating whether to tell Aithne. She decided she would, just because she wasn't sure when the next time she'd have a chance to talk to another woman would be, and one like Aithne, who she figured must have a gone on a billion dates and stuff. She glanced around quickly, making sure Emlyn wasn't back yet. "Well...I kind of have a crush on Emlyn...and...I just...I don't really know what to do." She said chuckling, and obviously still embarrassed by the way her cheeks turned red once again in a blush.________________________________________ Words: 289 Mood: Pretty good Notes: Thanks! =D xD

Oh! A smile! Aithne was overjoyed when she saw that. She loved it when others were happy, but, wait... was Ceara only happy because she agreed to lie to Emlyn? Thinking about it like that made her feel bad, for she didn't wish to lie to anyone. But, it was something that she was asked to do... it wouldn't be that hard...
Her happy expression turned to confusion. This girl thought that Aithne had men just flocking to her? That was hilarious. But, Aithne took her complement, wait... was it a compliment?
"Well...I kind of have a crush on Emlyn...and...I just...I don't really know what to do." Wow, really? So that's why she was acting all weird, if Aithne would've known that -- actually, there wasn't much she could've done about the closeness. She had to get close in order to see what she was doing. Maybe she could've done something different, that would make Ceara more comfortable around her. Her eyes stared at the girl before her, but instead of alert and happy, they were only halfway open, as if she were thinking. "I... well... in all of my forty-three years of living... well, I haven't been successful in finding the right one. But!" Her eyes pepped up and the clasped her hands together, "...why don't you just try to get an answer out of him. If I were in your shoes... well, I'd be terrified of telling him, and have the possibility..." Her voice faded, as if she were trying to word her words right, "...of being rejected again."

Ceara waited patiently, seeing that it looked like Aithne was thinking. She leaned forward slightly, eager to hear what Aithne would say. She figured all very pretty girls, with lots of feminine beauty and stuff, would know a lot about guys. She thought girls like Aithne had to have about a dozen dates every night because so many guys were running after them. She'd never even had an admirer that she knew away, so she knew just about nothing when it came to boys. Were you supposed to tell them that you like them, or not? She had no idea, which was exactly why she was asking Aithne.
However, something Aithne said threw her completely off subject for a few moments. "F-Forty-three!?" She spluttered, her eyes wide as she stared at Aithne, surprised. "You're f-forty-three years old!?" Aithne looked younger than her. How the heck could she be forty-three!? Ohh. She must not be human. Ceara wasn't very sure what she thought of people that weren't human. Aithne seemed nice enough but...what was she? Was she a vampire or something!? "What are you?" She asked, trying not to sound hostile or anything like that. It was hard, though. She'd never met anything that wasn't human and...she'd never really wanted to.
However, Aithne's suggestion for what she should do made sense. She had no idea how she was supposed to do that, though. How was she supposed to ask Emlyn whether he liked her in a way that didn't say that she liked him!? And the thought of being rejected...she hadn't even thought of that. She felt a knot of fear forming her her stomach. Having a crush on someone was too complicated for her liking.________________________________________ Words: 312 Mood: Not bad Notes: Poor Aithne =( Hope she doesn't get too offended at Ceara's reaction xD

After navigating difficultly through the crowd, Emlyn had found his way back to the cart while leading Treasure, and obviously Talisman as well. He saw both of the girls talking, and wondered if he should stay back...what if they were talking about him? About what a clutz he was and how he was always mortifying himself and blushing? Just the thought of that made him turn pink, and he looked down and hunched his shoulders slightly, wishing once again that he was shorter. He hated it when people called him a giant. He was just tall and heavily-built...
Emlyn coughed obviously before he was in hearing range so they would stop talking about...whatever they were talking about before they arrived. They hadn't exactly been chatting while he was around, so he only assumed that it was something they didn't want him to hear. That made him uncomfortable. Maybe they were talking about girl things, whatever those were. He held back a few more moments just to be entirely sure he wouldn't barge in on them, he wanted to give them plenty of warning.
Now he led Treasure closer. The gelding was obviously showing off as he arched his neck and raised his tail to show off his Arabian descent. For some reason, this made Emlyn embarrassed as well, so he busied himself with taking a medium-sized, clinking pouch out of his saddlebags.
"How much do you want?" he asked Aithne, undoing the drawstring, "I'll pay for both treatments."
His eyes flickered between both girls, still wanting to know what they had been talking about, but at the same time, dreading it. It felt like when he had come behind the cart was 'No-mans land.'

Her eyebrows turned down, but not like she was angry. She was just trying to figure out why Ceara was so shocked. Had she never met a nymph before? Oh, riiight! Aithne completely forgot she was in Soar, back in Skye it wasn't unlikely that you'd see every type of creature running around. She looked around, to see if anyone else was around. The only person she saw was Emlyn, walking back to the cart.
She poked her chin, as she looked back at Ceara, "...I'm a nymph!" Her hands now rested at her sides, and she swayed slowly from side to side. It was logical for Ceara to think she had a real chance with men, but she didn't. Using her right hand, she messed with the loop in her nostril, just adjusting it. By that time Emlyn was already there, and he asked her the question that she told Ceara she would... lie to.
She looked at him with a small smile, "...both of them cost fifty." Aithne nodded to him, just to reassure him that she was NOT lying. Because, even if the price did come from influence with Ceara, she could defend herself by saying it was what she thought was the right price. Maybe she was trying too hard.

Ceara remained where she sat, staring at Aithne and still looking surprised. She glanced at Emlyn as he coughed to make his presence known, taking his time in actually getting over to them. She pretty much ignored him, too intent on learning what Aithne was. A nymph, eh? Didn't they prey on men? Well, no wonder she'd been a little uncomfortable with her being close to Emlyn. But...Aithne couldn't be bad, right? She'd healed them both after all, and she was very nice. Plus she was lying to Emlyn right now like she'd asked. Maybe she wasn't so bad...even if she wasn't human. She decided to let that subject drop. It just made her uncomfortable thinking of Aithne being anything but human.
Instead she turned to Emlyn, a frown on her face. "No, you don't have to do that! I can pay for myself." Why was she saying that when she'd already paid for his? Because she expected Emlyn knew her well enough by now to be more surprised if she didn't argue. Besides, if by some chance he actually agreed, then she would have paid for virtually all of it, which was exactly what she wanted to do. She doubted Emlyn would let her pay, but if he did then all the better.
She heard a meow beside her and turned to see a black cat sitting beside her. This cat had been following her around since the first day she'd seen it, when she'd first met Emlyn a few days ago. She'd decided to name it Blackheart, just because it was so mean. the cat literally hated her, yet still it followed her around. Why? She had no idea. At that moment she forgot that the cat hated her and reached out to pet him, yanking her hand back as his claws left scratch marks on her hand. "Oh yes. I forgot you hated me, Rotten Cat." She muttered quietly, not caring if Emlyn and Aithne heard or not. She'd come up with two nicknames for Blackheart: One was Little Black, the other was Rotten Cat. She used the latter more often then the former. She had a few scratch marks on her arm, all having come from Blackheart.________________________________________ Words: 396 Mood: Very tired Notes: None, besides...Emlyn's a little paranoid, isn't he? xD

Emlyn furrowed his eyebrows. Why was Ceara making this so difficult for him? He was trying to be nice. She was a knight, she should've known as chivalry. Wasn't he being chivalrous? It wasn't many times during a day that he actually tried to be nice, he had to admit it. He scared little children and ignored the elderly. He was not the 'nice guy' whom women would smile at while he walked down the street. So why was he trying so desperately to perform a kind act right now?
"No, Ceara," he said simply, as he poured the coins into his hands and counted them out, ending by gently handing them to Aithne. The faster he paid her, the less time Ceara would have to complain. It seemed like she complained about every single little thing he did, did he really irritate her that much? He didn't try to be annoying around her, if anything, he tried to be somewhat kind, which was difficult for him. He just wasn't the type of person who went around making friends. He hadn't even made friends with the other boys at the academy, even though they had basically gone through torture together.
"Is there anything else we can do for you, Aithne?" he asked, just to be sure. He didn't think he should just leave a girl like her alone, perhaps he and Ceara should escort her out of the town or something. Or maybe...he couldn't think of anything else, and absently-mindedly scratched Talisman behind her ears. The feline had gone way too long without attention. He didn't want her to get mad at him later.

S he rotated the loop in her nose again before placing her hands back down at her sides. She let out a small sigh, how long were they going to bicker over something like money and who paid? But, it seemed Emlyn settled the deal, and she was thankful for it. Aithne didn't want to hear anything else over the whole ordeal. She took the money, of course, and she poured it into her dress' right pocket.
"Is there anything else we can do for you, Aithne?" Her head turned to look at Ceara. She really didn't want to stick around, because she knew of her feelings but... Aithne didn't want to walk through the town alone. She would make sure to stay away from Emlyn, for Ceara's sake and hers as well. Yes, Aithne knew the woman could break her in two if she wished; the thought of it sent a shiver down her spine. But, she looked back at Emlyn and nodded, "...I just want someone to help me find my way out of the town. It's been a long time since I've been here...!" she exclaimed lightly, laughing a bit.
Her gaze turned to Ceara to make sure it was alright. If Ceara really didn't want her around, then she would leave with hopes that she could find her own way out. Her eyes sparkled at the Ceara as she waited for her thoughts.

Ceara's lips twitched in amusement as Emlyn just said no to her paying, completely oblivious to what he was thinking. If she had known, she likely would have laughed her head off before she would start feeling bad. She wasn't trying to make him think she hated him, or disliked him. She just had problems accepting help, and people paying for her things counted as help. She would have laughed if she had known that he thought he irritated her a lot, only because it was so far from the truth. It wouldn't have taken her long to start feeling bad for making Emlyn think that way.
Ceara droned out of the conversation- or the lack thereof- as Emlyn handed Aithne the money, instead amusing herself with playing with Blackheart. She'd try pet him, he'd swipe at her, and she'd try pull away before he scored more claw marks in her. They were about even, and by the time she actually began paying attention to what Aithne and Emlyn were saying once again, she had quite a few bleeding marks on her hand, all of which were tiny and she ignored. She turned back to them, just in time to hear Aithne ask them to show her the way out of town and see her glance at her, as if asking if that was okay.
Well, now Ceara felt a little bad. Sure, she got a little jealous whenever Emlyn and Aithne got really close, but that didn't mean they couldn't be friends or anything. Heck, Emlyn could have as many girl friends as he wanted. By telling Aithne that she liked Emlyn, she hadn't meant to make the girl want to stay away from him. Beside, Ceara got the feeling that Aithne was even a little scared of her, which only made her feel like a giant, hideous, evil beast. She got to her feet, a smile on her face. "Sure we will." She said, before thinking better of it and glancing at Emlyn, not wanting to answer for him. "Or I will, I don't know about Emlyn." She said, still smiling._________________________________________ Words: 370 Mood: Not bad Notes: *Rubs hands together in anticipation. "Of course I will," Emlyn answered, after all, he had offered. He wouldn't turn down her request if he had just asked her if she had one. Hadn't he just done something nice? Why would he stop now? He may as well go on a roll with the good deeds and everything. Ceara was just there to question every decision he made, wasn't she? It made him feel uncomfortable...back in the good 'ol days that consisted of him, Treasure, and Talisman, it wasn't even possible for every move he made to be looked at under a microscope. As persnickety his animal companions were, they weren't ones for verbally complaining very much. They never gave him a hard time like Ceara did.
He decided to just take charge and start leading Aithne to the edge of town, which meant they wouldn't have to go through the marketplace again, and just assumed they would follow him, and thankfully, they did. He wondered briefly if he should offer to Aithne a ride on Treasure...after all, they did have a ways to go, and Ceara sure had given him a hard time when she thought he wouldn't agree to escort her out of town. Perhaps he should go out of his to prove he kept his promises and that he could be nice.
"Aithne, would you like to ride on Treasure?" he asked, feeling self-conscious as he did so. Oh god, he didn't think this through. What if she asked for helping getting up on him? Would he have to do it? Or would he wimp out and make Ceara? No! This was all about proving he could be chivalrous?
It was then that they were passing a sidestreet, and Emlyn noticed a few drunkards sashaying about the place. He threw them a cold place, and then wished he hadn't. The eye contact he made alerted them to not only him...but the others...
"Hey...lookit," one of them said in a drawn-out drawl, breath so heavy with alcohol that Emlyn could almost see it.
"Seein' what I'm seein'?" the second one asked. The other two nodded at him and then they grinned, but not at all good naturedly, more like the way a wolf bares its teeth before settling in for the chase. And then...they launched themselves at Aithne as Emlyn widened his eyes in horror.

S he followed Emlyn, thankful that they decided to help her. "Thank you so very much for helping me, Ceara and Emlyn." She looked at random things while walking, like a few signs and people. Aithne wondered how long the walk would be.
"Aithne, would you like to ride on Treasure?" Aithne shook her head back and forth, "No thank you... I'm... quite afraid of large animals. But, Treasure is beautiful." She smiled that same, old happy smile. Aithne spotted a few drunkards roaming around, acting like banshees. None of them looked appealing at all, but she diverted eye contact. Aithne just wanted to get out of the town, hopefully find a few more plants with medicinal qualities, and leave for Skye. The last part would take a while.
But, as she was walking, lost in thought. The drunken men began to speak. "Hey...lookit. There was a pause and then she heard, Seein' what I'm seein'? By the time she turned her head, they had taken a hold of her and began to drag her. One had a firm grip on her arm, the one that was still a little sore from the encounter than she had with a rather... scary man. She closed her eyes in pain, and even opened her mouth to scream, but another burly man covered her mouth with his hand. He even pulled her skinny arm behind her back, tugging harder and harder each time she tried to scream.
They began to drag her away, from the other two.

Ceara was ever oblivious to what Emlyn was thinking about her as they began walking, her with her arms folded up behind her head, almost like someone would were they lying on the grass and staring at the sky. She looked completely at ease as she watched the clouds in the sky, though at times she would look back out of curiosity to see if Blackheart was following her. Sometimes he was there and other times he wasn't. She suspected he would go off exploring for a few minutes every so often, but he would always come back to her. She didn't see why, since he wasn't technically her cat. He just followed her around, even though he seemed to hate her. Still, she wasn't complaining. She did think it was sort of cute.
The smile that had been on her face faded slightly as Emlyn asked Aithne if she wanted to ride on Treasure, but she didn't even look at them, continuing to just watch the sky as she walked. Was Emlyn really that oblivious to her feelings, or was he doing that to spite her for some reason? She doubted it was the latter. She didn't know much about guys, but they'd always striked her as being rather oblivious. Still, if Aithne wanted to ride his horse she didn't mind. It just bothered her that Emlyn asked her whether she wanted to. Did that make much sense? Probably not.
After they'd been walking for a while, she heard the man and turned to look, seeing some drunk guys walking out of an alley, looking at Aithne. Of course she didn't blame them, Aithne was very beautiful. Well, she was a nymph, no doubt she was beautiful. If these drunk men thought she and Emlyn were going to let them get to Aithne, though, then they had another thing coming. Then the men launched themselves forward at Aithne. Emlyn seemed to be frozen as the men grabbed hold of Aithne and began dragging her off. Anger flared in Ceara's eyes as she threw herself at one of the men that had hold of Aithne. "Get your filthy paws off her." She snarled and decked one of the men hard in the face, making him him release Aithne as he stumbled backwards. There were four men. Two for her and two for Emlyn? That seemed fair, and she could take them. "Are you coming, Emlyn? Not going to let me have all the fun, are you!?" She called over her shoulder as she turned towards another man.________________________________________ Words: 446 Mood: Good Notes: Fun! =D xD

The initial shock faded away as Emlyn prepared himself to fight. Now he was very glad he had picked up his bow before and swung it down from his shoulder. Now this had him angry. He thought it was obvious to anyone that Ceara could fight back, but Aithne? No, anyone would be able to see she wasn't a fighter. He couldn't even imagine her kicking someone. The only weapon he could see her using were fighting fans, but she wasn't malicious enough to use those. They must have picked the 'easy' target on purpose, cowards.
He knew this would be slightly scary for Aithne, who didn't know that he was rather skilled with a bow. He was slightly nervous too, wondering if this would be one of the few times he didn't hit his target, but when he let the arrow fly, it hit it's mark and the man fell down and screamed. He allowed himself a small 'Yeah!' in his mind. He was just about to shoot again, when he decided he wasn't going to risk it, the other guy was way too close to her for his comfort, and he would rather fight the guy in close combat rather then accidentally hit Aithne.
So he swung his bow back around his shoulder and drew his sword. He was not aiming to kill, only to seriously injure. At least these guys had an excuse, aka, their drunkness. Why did people drink to the point of getting drunk? Didn't they know they would lose themselves? He himself had had a drink on a few occasions, but two glasses at the most. He grabbed the man from behind at the neck and turned him around to face him. He looked angry, and swung a punch which Emlyn leaned back to avoid, but the man did manage to get his chin pretty badly. Angrily, he lifted up a leg and kicked the man in the stomach and then sliced the man's leg with his sword. Then, with the hilt of his sword, he hit the man's fist where he had a hold on Aithne, forcing him to let go.

H er eyes were frantic, she watched Ceara has the beat one man down. In then, in split second, she saw an arrow fly. Even thought a tremendous weight was lifted from her body, one man was still dragging her away. She couldn't bite his hand away to scream, she just couldn't do it.
But, the other man let go, releasing her mouth. A small squeak came from her throat, as she fell to the ground. A tingling sensation came from her knees, she turned her head to see her scraped knee and only guessed the other one was just as bad. Her palms stung a bit, but nothing was done too badly to them. Aithne breathed deeply, was it over.
A more in shape man, or that was it seemed. Came out from the shadows and knocked out Emlyn with his huge fist. He moved quickly, using the end of his knife to hit Ceara in the head. He walked slowly to Aithne, staring down at her with a smirk. Did they hurt you? Aw... Aithne tried crawling away, but the man caught her by her wrist and pulled her up. She closed her eyes, and used her left arm to cover her chest. He stared at her for a minute, as if he were calculating her worth. The cruel man threw her down and Aithne screamed out in pain.
The man bent down over her and just stared. What was he waiting for? Was he just trying to cause more pain for her, to damage her mental health? He finally spoke, ...my, my... look what they've done you you... He frowned slightly, before replacing it with that sick, disgusting smirk. He obviously wasn't as drunk as the others. Aithne opened her mouth to scream, but he instantly slapped her, leaving a blotchy red mark on her face. I can take you right here, right now, in front of your friends, he said with grunt. His hand began to slide up her leg, and pull up her dress. In her frantic state of shock, Aithne blacked out.
