He snorted softly and shook his head.
"What's your name?" He asked as he worked on the breaks a little more, speeding the healing. At this rathe should would be fine in a couple of days, but he would be exhausted. Not that he really cared, he'd recover. He always did.

"Jennifer," Jenny said, not even bothering go with her alias of Oliver. He obviously knew that she was female, and there was no hope for it. Hopefully, he wouldn't be too discriminate agianst her for her gender, age, and size. "Jennifer MacKenzie, of the Clan MacKenzie of the Hebrides," She added, for reasons unknown even to herself, "This is Rollo." she flicked her head slightly into the direction of the wolf, and smiled slightly when he looked back at her. "And you're Seth?" She phrased the last as a question, pretty sure that she was right but siding with caution, hesitant to make a mistake.

"Seth Blak, heir to the Blak estates here in Sceith." He replied with nod, his distaste with his Sceithian home obvious in his tone.
"But we weren't always in this place. Our family used to be respected healers in Saor, before the Tyrant made his split." He felt the need to explain, scowling at the wall.

Seth Blak...A most auspicous name if she'd ever heard one, Jenny had thought. "But we weren't always in this place. Our family used to be respected healers in Saor, before the Tyrant made his split." Jenny felt a muscle twitch when she heard the part about being respected healers, and she just had to ask. "Is your healing magic?" Jenny didn't have any magic of her own, nor had she ever known anyone back at home that had any gifts, and it was a source of eternal fascination for her. And to be able to heal with it...

A small smile flashed across Seth's face.
"Yes, it is. It's a gift passed down through my line for as long as anyone can remember. Though it's more powerful in some, like my father and I, than in others." He replied, sitting back rather short of breath. He started to stand and stumbled before Alex caught him.
"Idiot, you wore yourself out again." She muttered and yanked a chair over with her foot.
"But it's not without consiquences. Speeding the healing of severe wounds like broken bones and the like takes up part if our supply of energy. After a major healing I could sleep for days." He added as she sat down heavily.

Jenny listened to the man explain about his gift, and she found herself hanging on to every word. Magic was just not that common in the Hebrides, and she was never around when the wandering mages passed through (fate, perhaps? coincidence, per chance?). And then he stumbled, and the more vocal of the two women said that he had 'worn himself out again' in a voice that conveyed long suffering, and in the same breath she had sent a chair over to him via foot shove. Seth had sat down while saying, "But it's not without consequences. Speeding the healing of severe wounds like broken bones and the like takes up part if our supply of energy. After a major healing I could sleep for days." And the groan he made as he finally settled his weight seemed to confirm that. "Wow..." Jenny said, even though it seemed a tad inadequate. But really, what do you say to something like that. "Sorry I fell out of the tree and broke several bones in my body causing you to heal me and tax your energy"? "I won't do it again?"? That seemed a bit out of place, too. And then Jenny was saved from replying by Rollo when he, who had been standing next to the cot with his side pressed against it, suddenly stiffened and turned his head to the door.

Seth's head swung around as the door opened and his nostrils flared as he scented the air that came in with the people.
"Mother, Father." He said respectfully, getting slowly to his feet with a slight grimace. Alex shoved him back into the chair.
"Seth just about knocked himself out being an idiot again." She said matter-of-factly. The woman, his mather shook her head with a sigh while the man, his father, smiled knowingly.
"As he always will. What were the injuries?" Lord William Blak asked in his gentle voice.
"Several broken bones and abrasions, sir." Seth replied, attempting to stand again. Again Alex shoved him back into his seat.
"I'll tie you down if I have to." She hissed at him and he smiled wanly.

Jenny had felt a jolt of worry course through her body when Rollo had become alert and aware, and when two people had wlaked in she had felt a sudden pulse of energy swell through her; but when Seth had called them 'mother' and 'father', Jenny relaxed, ever so slightly. And that's when she had studied the two adults. They all had black hair, Jennifer realized in a moment of clarity. The mother, the father, Seth, even the two girls. Seth's mother's hair was cut short, quite unlike the current fashion, but kind of similar to Jenny's own hair, save for the color and the style. For while they both had their hair cropped, Seth's mother had had it cut with a sure hand, by someone who knew what they were doing. Jenny's own hair had been shorn off with a knife, and was only just beginning to grow past her ears. The mother also had a cool, sleek demenor that reminded Jenny rather off-handedly of the dominant girl that kept pushing Seth down onto the chair. The father, though, the father had the same laid-back, easy-going, patient air as the son. And both men had the same warm, sparkling, friendly eyes, allowing for the slight difference in color. The father also spoke to his son like about what had happened, and what the injuried were. As if Jenny weren't there. As a matter a fact, they all were acting like it...something was off about that, Jenny thought. And the conclusion caused to her stay absolutely still, and barely breath, lest she disturb something that she wasn't meant to see...

"This was dangerous Seth, it's so close." Lady Susan chided, turning her surprisingly cold eyes on the girl.
"I couldn't have left her mother, she would have died. We can put her in a guest room and lock the door when the time comes. It's not as if we allow ourselves out of the Chamber anyway." Seth replied, keeping his voice level though he was becoming fed up with the heartless ideas the women had been implying.
"He's right dear, it's not in our nature to leave one to die though you may be able to handle such a thing." William said calmingly, laying a hand on her shoulder. She breathed out a sigh and her expression softened.
"Yes, I know. But I do wish you two would think once in a while before going on your crusades." She replied, smiling softly up at her husband.

The woman had a sixth sense. That was the only explanation, because the moment Jenny wished herself away, the older woman turned her cool blue eyes in her direction and looked directly into Jennifer's eyes. "I couldn't have left her, mother, she would have died. We can put her in a guest room and lock the door when the time comes. It's not as if we allow ourselves out of the Chamber anyway." Seth said, and the young Hebridean felt a momentary surge of gratefullness; that, naturally, was purged when the young red-head heard the whole little "locker her up when the time comes" part. She was not a big fan of having her freedom restricted. "He's right dear, it's not in our nature to leave one to die though you may be able to handle such a thing." The man said, and then he laid a hand on his wife's shoulder. The resulting reaction was instantaneous, a sudden relaxation of ram-rod stiffness and prim properness, such as Jenny had seen in her cousins and in other nobles that she had met in her travels. "Yes, I know. But I do wish you two would think once in a while before going on your crusades." The woman said, and then she smiled, a most beautific smile that revealed some inner warmth. Maybe she wasn't as cruel as Jenny had innitially though...with a sudden rumbling snarl, Rollo shot out from under Jenny's arm and bolted past the humans and out the door. Jenny, who's arm had been relaxing on Rollo's shoulder, jerked instinctively and fell out off of the cot with a muffled shout that might have been Rollo! And the landing was very, very painful.

"Alex, Leah, go see what the problem is. Seth, make sure she's alright." William said, his gentle voice suddenly gaining the tenor of a commander on the Field or more appropriately the head doctor in an infirmary. The two young women nodded and took off out the door nearly as fast as the wolf had as their brother knelt next to Jenny.
"You alright? I'm sorry about all this, this just isn't the safest place to be at the moment. With luck you'll be fully healed before it rises but we can't be sure." He murmured as he gently lifted her and placed her back on the cot.

"You alright? I'm sorry about all this, this just isn't the safest place to be at the moment. With luck you'll be fully healed before it rises but we can't be sure." Seth said, and then he helped Jenny get back onto the cot. "Yeah," she squeaked, but otherwise barely registered what the older man had said - her mind was on Rollo. It was odd, really, that the two had been together for less than a year, and yet it felt like forever. It was odd, also, that Jenny felt of Rollo as a friend rather than a pet - he was just an animal. And yet, she couldn't bring herself to think of the large, muscular wolf as "just an pet". He was so much more than that, he was a friend, a companion, a rescuer, a protector. And he had these ways of looking so intellegent, like something was actually going on within his skull, unlike that of most of the tamer canine kin (ie dogs). What ever it had been that had made Rollo take off, Jenny was worried. She loved the wolf, it seemed, and whatever had taken his interest so completely and utterly was bound to be dangerous. And the Forest of Dorchades was fraught with dangerous, strange creatures... "Dangerous," she muttered suddenly. Stupid of him to send his lady-friends after her wolf. He might have sent them to their deaths...

"I'm sure he'll be fine. He's not all he seems to be, just as we aren't." He said in a reassuring tone until his mother came up behind him and clenched his shoulder in an iron grip.
"That's enough Seth, she doesn't need to know." She said firmly, her voice like ice. Seth looked up at her, his blue eyes defiant.
"I believe she has a right to know mother, she is stuck here with us until she heals and in the state she's in that may be awhile. She has to understand why we will be taking the measure we will take. She is not a prisoner but a guest." He replied, his voice cool but not reaching the level of supicious cold Susan had.

The mother-son exchange did nothing to reassure the young red-headed woman that her friend would be alright, and when Seth said, "I believe she has a right to know mother, she is stuck here with us until she heals and in the state she's in that may be awhile. She has to understand why we will be taking the measure we will take. She is not a prisoner but a guest," Jenny again got the feeling of being trapped, of having her freedom wrenched from her. "Know what?" she asked suspiciously in her brusque way and then eyed Seth's mother. Jenny was on the defense, now, and didn't feel much obliged to observe the niceties of polite exchange.

Seth turned to her with solemn eyes, bracing his hands on the side of her cot to steady himself in his crouch.
"We...aren't exactly human. We don't like what we are but we can't help it, we were born this way. So we heal, we heal to make up for any damage we may cause when we aren't in full control of ourselves. But that isn't to mean we don't take precautions." He replied, still hesitating to say the actual word. He rarely did as it always had negative conotations and his was a relatively peaceful family.
