[What Is It] Most of you have heard of an "audiobook," which is a recording primarily of the spoken word as opposed to music. It's not specifically a recording of a published piece of literature, and is most certainly not limited to novels, having never intended to be descriptive of the word 'book'. And going upon that concept, the staff of Swords of Speirling have concocted yet another contest: audio post. While techinically an audiobook in it's own right, to clear up potential misunderstandings we've decided to coin our own term, and but as literal (ha, ha) as possible.
[How It Works] The challange we put forth to you is, quite simply put, to read and record a choice 200-word-or-more swords of speirling role play post and then post it here for the judges to review it. Sounds easy enough, right? It is, actually. We pick out a list of criteria to be met, you choose and read and record a post, and then we judge and choose a winner. La de da, and we're done!
[Things You'll Need] > a little bit of time on your hands
> a 200 word or more swords of speirling post that fits the topics selected for the contest. Each contest has different criteria, and it's your job to hunt down a suitable post that you want to read and then share it with us, adding your own little dash of sugar and spice.
> some sort of audio recording device, which you can get into your computer and on the internet (posting a video on Youtube or something works just fine)
> a voice that works; please, no squeaky Alvin and the Chipmunks voices. And no ASL re-tellings - this is an audio contest, not a visual contest.
[The Sign Up] There is no signup sheet or format to fill out first thing first; the contest's an open contest, and anyone may enter, providing that they meet the requirements and enter before the contest closes. You'll of course have to fill a little something out when you get around to entering the actual contest (your ooc name, the link to the post you're reading, a link/code for the recording, ect., etc.,). But don't start stressing, it's nothing complicated ^_^
If you wish to act as a judge, please contact Moira or Peregrine via PM, and we'll yay-say it or nay-say it.
