A boy of 16 stood on the edge of the steps to the castle of Diana Orceno. The cool December air lifted his dark brown locks and played with them, but he ignored him, just enjoying the feeling of the wind on his face and the quiet peace of the moment. He felt very strange. A year ago, he had longed to be 17 so he could be free, be a legal adult, but now, now he would miss being a youth. But on the other had, becoming a man meant complete and utter freedom from his parents, and better yet, he could boss Peter around for an entire day, ah, the bliss. He just stood there, becoming more cold by the minute, with these mixed emotions inside of him.

Tammy stepped up behind him and smiled. 'Its a good thing you no...it wont be all problems just because your of age.' she had sort of guessed what was going on.

Peregrine looked up as he heard another enter.
"Greetings." he said, turning to see a young vampire. He had seen her once before, in the entrance to the Captains common room, she had been the one who had tripped over something, he didn't remember what, and it had made a loud bang.
"Pray tell, what are you talking about?" He hardly knew this girl who had just come up behind him without a warning or an asking of permission. Who was she?

"I am very well, thank you." Peregrine said. "And you, I'm not sure I know your name." While he waited for her to speak, he looked down onto the sundial, which was now powered by the moonlight. Checking its shadow, he found that the time was 10 minutes to midnight. He would be 17 in ten minutes. He looked up again and waited for the girl to speak. A soft, night wind lifting his dark brown hair slightly in the late night.

Tammy looked at him curiously. 'Im Tammy.' she said holding out her hand to him to shake. 'I love it out here on a night like this...dont you?' she asked trying to get into a proper conversation with someone for the first time in ages.

“An honor to meet you Tammy.” Peregrine said, shaking her hand with his rough grip “I am Peregrine Alexander.” He added with a bow. Then he considered her next question. “It is true that I do take pleasure in a night like this, but I prefer the morn, when the rooster crows, ice and snow cover the land, and no human, other than I, is around. I find the automosphere to be most peaceful and pure then.

Tammy sighed and sat down looking up. The moon shone high and full and she felt at peace. 'So are you looking forward to coming of age? or am I right in saying your not so happy about it? Dont feel like you must answer me, just asking.' she smiled.

“Yes.” Peregrine replied, “How did you know?” He asked her perplexed, maybe she was a mind reader. He shivered internally. The idea of minding reading unnerved him considerably. He glanced at the sun dial. Seven minutes now.
((Thx.))

Tammy laughed. 'Im good at reading auras, not minds. They change with age, feelings and other things. Your on the verge of manhood.'
