Amri's eyes widened when she said her name. Violet Alexander? She was royalty? Thank god he hadn't killed her, that was the one thing the Tyrant King had forbidden him from doing. He could capture her if he felt like it, but the Sceithian lord wanted the blood to be on his hands. He probably should have taken her right then, but it was cold and wet, and if he wanted to get away quickly, he would probably have to carry her, and he didn't feel like carrying a soaking wet, most likely squirmy thing in the rain along with Banryuu. It just sounded darn right unpleasant.
Man, she sure freaked out when he mentioned chopping her in half, she had every right to, but she seemed more...alarmed than most people did. Was she...even crying? It was hard to tell in the rain, but it sure seemed like it. He had to admit to being a little weirded out. What kind of person broke into tears when they were scared of being killed? Wasn't running away a more normal and effective action anyway? It didn't work with him, because he was always faster, but still. Then again, she was a princess and probably didn't know a thing about the real world.
He snorted at her comment, "Since when am I a h-" He stopped. The words 'princess' and 'hero' together sounded...right some how. And then into his head popped the phrase 'bad guy.' Princess, hero, bad guy...it was like a fairytale...a story, a game...
"But...you're the princess! The hero doesn't kill the princess, he kills the bad guy, or there wouldn't be a happy ending."
"Amri, fairytales aren't real. Those things that happen in books, don't happen in real life. This is reality and you need to realize that. You killed a person, not in a book, in real life and that's not good."
He blinked. He had been with her. He had called himself the 'hero,' and he had killed someone...she hadn't liked it. His stomach dropped. Why should he care? He rubbed his head.
"Crap, did I really say sappy bullshit like that?"

Why was this happening to her? It was because she decieved her parents and went to that pub wasn't it? Whatever the reason, it did happen and it was happening right at that moment. She should've ran, but she didn't, she sat there, in the rain, and cried. The image just tormented her more and more as she did. She couldn't push it away. She couldn't do a d*** thing about it.
When he started to speak, she looked up at him, tears still running down her cheeks. Of course, in the rain, you can't see someone's tears, but she deffinitely knew they were there. When he cut himself off, she wondered what was going through his head. She wondered if something had come to his mind. Maybe he had decided not to kill her after all. She didn't know, and that's another thing that scared her.
She slowly slid her back up the tree so she was standing. She didn't want to stand before, but now she did. She couldn't move as easily if she was sitting, if he attacked. Something told her he wouldn't though, but she couldn't fully trust her own feelings, because she wasn't the one with the weapon, or the fighting skills.
She looked down at the ground as she slowly calmed down. She wiped what tears were on her face away and tried to, once again, push the image from her thoughts. It disappeared, but she knew it wouldn't be gone for long. It always came back.
Violet glared slightly at him, even though she was still afraid. "Sappy bullshit?" She asked, her voice quivering. "How is that sappy bullshit?" She looked away from him. "You really did help that night, even though you scared me." She thought about everything that had happened. Not just the image that wouldn't leave her alone. She decided she would tell him this much. "There was this blonde man, and you were complaining that he abused you. You were acting like a little kid and you wanted to play house. You wanted me to be the mom and you the dad." She giggled a bit at her words. She could picture everything as she talked about it. "I didn't want to play with you and that man came over and took off the cloth that was the roof for your little fort you made," She pointed at his sword and the cloth that was on it. "he said that you already had your fun and basically that they knew you weren't into girls, so he told you to hand me over to him."
She stopped before she got to the part that scared her the most. She didn't know what would happen if she actually spoke of it. She took a deep breath, preparing to continue. "I was scared, you told him no, and then you... you... killed him," She whispered the last part, for it was hard for her to say and at the same time she was trying not to see what had happened. "I didn't appreciate seeing him killed in front of me, but I guess if you didn't, I might have gotten hurt, even though I told you that it would've been better to just beat him up, instead of kill him."
Violet pressed her hand to her head. So many thoughts and images swarmed through her mind. She wasn't feeling good, and the cold from the rain wasn't helping either. She wondered what he would say to what she told him. He probably didn't care at all about what she said, but she told him anyways.

He furrowed his eyebrows as she told the story of what had happened that night. He had wanted...to play house? He had never played that in his entire life, nor had he ever have a desire to. How did one even go about doing that? Why had he wanted to do that? It just...didn't make any sense. Murderers just didn't turn into little kids when they had had one drink too many. It didn't add up, or maybe it had something to do with the fact that he had started drinking when he was thirteen, but by thirteen he had already been traveling, training, and getting into fights. He had never had a chance to play house in his entire life, and even if he had, no one would've played it with him.
Maybe that was why...
"How is that sappy bullshit? It is for someone who doesn't give a d*** whether the people around him die or not." Was that really the case? How was it that he could turn into an entirely different person while he was intoxicated? Or was he one of those people, what were they called? Who had split personalities. He rooted in the not-so-often-rooted-in area called his brain, and he didn't anyone else was in there, and if there was he'd just kill them like he would anyone else.
Then she brought up the issue of him protecting her, which had already been a touchy subject in his mind. It was true, he'd been arguing with himself lately. In one corner was the highly-supported belief that he killed to become stronger and because he enjoyed the rush and adrenaline, in the other, an annoying little piece of him that just wouldn't shut up said that he killed to prove that he could protect someone or something. He had never had a desire to protect, so while should he feel it now? Why would he, drunk or sober, ever want to make sure something bad didn't happen to someone else? And why did he have this nagging feeling that he had unfinished business with this Violet girl, that he owed or something? If anything, she owed him something for making sure she didn't get raped or something like that, whether he had been conscious while he was doing it or not.
Then he did something very un-Amri-like. he picked Banryuu off the ground, and held it's blade so that it acted as sort of an umbrella over her. It was not to be mistaken for an act of kindness, though, he merely believed that she might be able to give him clues on what had been going wrong with him lately, and if she got sick or something she'd be less likely to help.
"Are you going to stay in the rain?" he asked, hating the sound of his own voice as he said it.

Violet looked at him with confusion written all over her face as his eyebrows furrowed. He had done that before, but she wondered what he was doing that for this time. Was it because he didn't believe her or something? Whatever it was, she was curious about it, but she wouldn't ask.
She slightly shook her head at him. "I don't understand you, Amri." She looked him in the eyes. "How could someone, be so nice and childlike when they're drunk, but so cruel when they aren't? Those are two completely different personalities." Her voice was still quivering slightly from the fear, and from being cold. "But apparently somewhere deep down under all that toughness, you care, because you protected me."
When he raised his sword and started to bring it closer to her she stepped back a bit, thinking he was going to attack her. Instead, it ended up above her head to sheild her from the rain. She looked up at it and then at him. "Why?" She asked simply. He was confusing her with this action. First time they meet, he acts like a child and is nice to her, second time he acts like he hates her, and now, still on their second meeting, he's being somewhat kind again. Would he ever make up his mind?
Violet shifted, a bit uncomfortable with his huge sword hovering over her. She kept glancing at it from time to time, worrying that he might drop it. "I don't want to." She said, answering his question. "But we're talking right? And I can't just waltz up to my home with you by my side." Mentioning her home made her think of him. She never found out where he lived. "Amri, where exactly do you live? I never asked that night, and you never told me."

Amri breathed hard, trying to think of an appropriate action to take...well, appropriate didn't really matter, but he still needed to think of something to do. He couldn't just stand there as he got more and more angry and more and more puzzled. He shouldn't have had to deal with being angry and puzzled, he could've just sliced her right then to be done with it, but this was something...he wanted to solve. He didn't want to pretend it never happened, because it had, and it was an issue he knew he would have to deal with sooner or later. And he couldn't be rash about killing her, just in case he decided that he did need her later.
"Just...stop talking, this is confusing enough without you repeating everything in my head to me. And...I don't care." He furrowed his eyebrows again and tried to think. He just needed...to know what do do about this, but where could he start? There wasn't anyone he could go to to ask for advice, and he wouldn't accept advice from anyone anyway.
"I don't know why I'm doing it so stop asking before I change my mind." He had used Banryuu to block the rain from her, but it was still falling on him. Even if he had wanted to use it as a cover for him, the only way to get the angle right would've been to put it on his head. He was sure his neck was as strong as his arms, but didn't want to risk breaking it. He had never been educated on anatomy, or really anything at all, but he knew the neck was important. But still, the rain was being annoying, and soaking his braid. And when his braid was wet, it would drip from the top down the shirt of his hakama, That was it. The least he could do right now was find a place to figure it out without the rain.
"I don't have a place to live," he said simply, turning around and squinting his eyes to try and see a place that would make better shelter, "Are you going to find a dry place with me or do I have to pull you by your hair?"

Violet raised an eyebrow at his heavy breathing. What was wrong with him? Did she say something wrong? She took about two steps toward him and then stopped. "Calm down." She said softly. She didn't want him to get too worked up. Or was it, she was afraid he would kill her if he didn't calm down? She just knew, she wanted him calm. It made things so much easier.
He then answered one of her questions and it made her angry. Just stop talking? Really? "Look, you don't have to be that way." She said, not yelling, but not sounding very happy. One thing she did notice though, was he said she was repeating what he was thinking. So he was trying to figure out his personality changes? There had to be something causing it, but what?
She glared once more at the boy that stood before her. "Really? Well then don't do it anymore. I don't care if you sheild me from the rain or not. I was in it long enough, I think I can handle more. And I didn't ask for it." She said this as she clenched her fists. He had no reason to be this way. She was being nice for once and he was just acting like an asshole.
Violet crossed her arms, but it wasn't out of anger. She actually felt slightly bad for him despite everything he's put her through. "You don't have a place to live? Well what kingdom are you from?" She was curious now. She didn't want to push, but she kind of needed to know what she was dealing with. She sighed angrily at his comment. "Yes I'll find one with you, but like I said before, stop treating me like a piece of trash! And... I thought we went over this whole touching business, so you won't be pulling my hair anytime soon." She was angry with him. He was just like a woman. So many mood swings.

She told him to calm down, he couldn't calm down, nor was he like a scared animal who needed settling down. He was not scared, but matters like this...matters where he needed to think hard and be patient, they frustrated him to no end, because neither of those two things were his strong points. If there was one thing he had learned in his existence in the world, it was that life never gave anything easy, especially for him. Everything he had...his strength, his sword, his reputation...he had given his sweat and blood for. And, not really being an optimistic person, he hadn't really expected that to change.
"I don't have to be like this? Excuse me? Since when did you become an expert on me?" He gave a short, sarcastic, 'Huh!' She was getting on his nerves. Sure, she was a princess, but he thought that by now she'd have learned enough to respect him at least somewhat, seeing as he could strike her down in one blow. He just wanted to concentrate and finding a place out of the rain. His bangs were so long that when they were plastered down they went over his eyes.
He scowled and tried to peer through the grey. There weren't any lights, so there were no inns or houses that he could just storm into it...but he did see an especially dark spot in the woods across a field, which meant perhaps that the tree above grew so thickly they didn't even let rain in. Grimacing, he stepped onto the muddy field, squinching slightly as each footstep landed with a squelch. His bare toes were soon caked with dirt, but he couldn't help that.
"I'm not from any kingdom around here, but I'm currently in the employment of some Sciethian lord." He didn't really know the impact of the words he was saying. Sure, he knew that pretty much every kingdom was at war with each other - a mercenary's paradise - but, then again, it wasn't like he had devoted his loyalty to the Tyrant King. If he wanted to leave or change who he was fighting for, he would, and that was that. He was Amri and he didn't have a side, but for a price, and not a very cheep one, he would use his skills with pleasure.
When he got to the dark spot, he cursed to see that it was a clump of ferns, but when he looked up, he saw that they pretty much did block the rain, for they grew on the trees as well. Sighing, he plopped down on the ground and began rubbing his toes, being the practical person he was, laying Banryuu beside him.

He was really getting on her nerves and she took a couple steps in the direction of her home, but then stopped and crossed her arms angrily. She wanted to go home right then and there, but something was holding her back. Did she really care enough to help him figure out was wrong with him? She didn't think so, but she was still trying to figure that out for herself.
Violet ignored his questions as she tensed up a bit. She wanted to snap at him again, but she held back. She was sick of all the bickering. She knew it wasn't the end of it though. As long as they were together, they would have some sort of bickering going on. She just didn't want to do it this minute. Not to mention, she had nothing to say to him, nor did she want to say anything.
She watched as he looked around, trying to peer through his soggy bangs. She shook her head at him. If he had so much trouble with them, why didn't he just cut them shorter? She followed his gaze to a dark spot in the woods. Of course he decided to go over there. She could hear his steps through the field. The sound was quite annoying.
Violet listened to his answer and then her jaw dropped. She was talking to someone who was employed by the Tyrant King. Being with him was decieving her parents all together. "I really need to stay away from Peregrine," She thought to herself. She couldn't just leave though, she felt somewhat obligated to stay. She didn't know what came over her.
She slowly made her way through the field to where he now sat. The ground was making squishing sounds underneath her feet and she looked down at the ground disgusted. She hated the mud. When she finally got to where he sat, she sat down as well, but a short distance from him. She didn't want to be too close. "So, what is the Tyrant King like?" She asked, that being the first thing that came to mind.

"The Tyrant King?" He was kind of annoyed that she kept asking him questions when that was what he was supposed to be doing to her, but he wouldn't just ignore. He sighed again as she started to peal the now drying mud off his toes, "He's an unpleasant sort of fellow, who seems rather obsessed with pain. He was smart enough to know not to look down on me, but dumb enough to threaten me for if I should do something he doesn't want me too." He chuckled and put his hands behind his head, and then leaned back onto the tree and closed his eyes. Although he often threatened people, it was probably the must dumb thing to do to him if you wanted his cooperation. He would do it just so that they would carry out the threat so he could prove it wouldn't do anything. What had the Tyrant King threatened? Oh yes, if he should 'Do anything but wound and capture the royal Scoalite family, or deceive him in any way, he would torture him, but not to death, using magic and then leave him chained for good where his strength wouldn't save him.' It was somewhat uncanny that the Sciethian lord had picked up on his fear of magic, but what he didn't know was that Amri didn't care about torture or pain, and he didn't believe that a type of imprisonment existed that would hold him down. Right now, he was content and wouldn't go out of his way to disobey orders. But..."It's not like I feel any loyalty to him. He's an old bloke who wants power, nothing I'm unused to when it comes to my employers."
He was just going to ask Violet a question then. He was going to ask her if, while he was drunk, he had made any reference to his past, but, as the saying said, 'If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong, and at the worst moment.' Too many times had the world proven to him the truth of that statement, and boy did it irritate the hell out of him.
He had heard the footsteps before, thanks to his hypersensitive feeling technique he had learning where he could feel the movement of others through the ground, but, like an idiot who was beginning to relax slightly, he had assumed they belonged to people on the path through the moor. Paranoia had its perks, and stopping situations like this was one of them. However, he was alert enough that he was still able to react.
What happened was arms reached in to their secluded area and pulled Violet out. In the same second they had her on her feet outside the woods, Amri was up as well, with an unsheathed Banryuu, as he stared hardly at the men who had her.
"Are you really sure you want to play this?" he asked darkly, hint of a smirk coming onto his face.

Violet listened intently to what he had to say about this man who is enemies with her family. Well her kingdom, if you want to get technical. She nodded a couple times to let him know she was listening. She frowned at him though. This guy did not sound very nice, but of course she knew that already. He just disgusted her, and she couldn't wait until he was no more worry to her people.
She smiled slightly when he talked about his loyalty to the king. "Really? So at any time, you could just leave and join someone else?" She didn't mean to ask more, but she was curious. Maybe she could get him on their side, but she doubted it as of right now. He was too hardheaded in her opinion.
She watched him as he began to relax. Does this mean he would be more calm? No more snapping at eachother? She wanted that to be so, but she wasn't going to get her hopes up too much. She looked at the ground and played with her ruined dress as she thought about what he had just spoke of about the king.
Violet let out a cry as she was suddenly snatched up by some man. She was now on her feet and being held against the man. She glared back at him as the anger started rise in her once again. What was with all these people wanting to touch her? She jerked a bit, trying to get out of the mans grasp, but he only held on tighter. She looked to Amri, who was now standing with his sword uncovered.
She grinded her teeth slightly, as she unsucessfully tried to get away again. It wasn't working. "You better let me go, unless you have a death wish!" She snapped at the man. "You're an idiot to think you can get away with anything you're planning to do!" She glared back at him once more, before she tried kicking him between the legs.

"You know, why don't you pick on someone..." Amri started to say, and then he stopped dead as he looked at them. As usual, his opponents were much bigger than him, him being a measly five foot four, and now he couldn't say what he was going to say. He frowned and tried to think of something, "Um...someone...who's...wearing armor!" Yes, that was the best he could do, and one of the drawbacks of being deadly but small. He hated it. Everyday he wished that he would grow taller, but he just couldn't. Oh well, he had the muscles to make up for it.
They snickered at his rather lame comment, but he chose to ignore it. The words during a battle didn't matter as much as the actions. He started spinning Banryuu in one hand, like a helicopter. The movement was so fast you could barely see his hand moving. He grinned as he used the momentum from spinning it to hit the ground in front of him, shattering the earth and sending shakes through the ground, enough to knock them over. This is too easy, he thought, rushing over to grab one of the men off the ground, I was hoping for some sort of challenge.
He decided that since it was so easy, and because he would be fighting close contact, since his long-distance fighting would most likely result in Violet also getting killed, he decided to toss Banryuu to the side. His halberd had done the job of stirring up confusion. His bare hands would be enough to take care of the lot of them. The man he was currently holding threw a punch at him, which he easily avoided. Amri let go of him for a split second so he could put both his hands on his neck, and in one quick motion, snapped it. He couldn't help but chuckled slightly as the mutilated man fell to the ground.
One tried to sneak up on him from behind, but Amri could feel him in the ground and swung around just as he tried to come down on him with his sword. Amri grabbed the sword by the blade. Many people were surprised when he did this, but his hands were so rough and callused that he never really got cut, as long as he held it in the right way. He pushed up, bending the sword backwards. Then he kicked the man in a certain spot, who then doubled over. Amri used his chance to snatch the sword out of his hand and hit him hard enough to break the skull on his head with the hilt of it. He rolled his eyes, they weren't even trying.
There was still one left, and by now he had had enough time to grab hold of Violet again, but was more alarming was now he had a bow in his hand, aimed straight at him. He let one arrow fly, and it just skimmed the top of his left shoulder place. "Not nice," Amri stated as he fitted another arrow. He wondered if he should make a break for Banryuu, which also acted as a shield, but there was really no point. Bows and arrows were annoying, but they were nothing he couldn't handle. By now the rain had stopped, which he was thankful for. He carefully sculpted his bangs out of his eyes as the man hesitated. Amri smirked. Now the man thought that he was planning something, and that he wouldn't fire the arrow. This was the best way to mess up his aim. Slowly, very slowly, Amri was inching to the side so that he wouldn't get Violet, and then, he started running at him.
Unfortunately, the smirking obviously hadn't fooled the man too much, and when he fired, the arrow went straight at Amri and hit him in the right thigh. He cursed, but as soon as he got close, he went to the ground and slid right into the man, knocking him off balance and onto Amri, unfortunately pushing the arrow further into him. Angrily, Amri rolled him over, and pulled the arrow out of his leg. With his blood still on the tip, he jammed it through the man's neck, while blood was staining the white of his hakama. He groaned slightly, but didn't say anything as he put a hand over where the arrow had gone in and pushed down.

Violet kept struggling against the man, but nothing worked. She hated being the damsel in distress, but she had no interest in learning how to fight. The man's grasp tightened everytime she moved, and it was starting to hurt. She glared down at the ground, wondering what would happen now. Amri could handle them right?
She looked up when she heard Amri talk. She raised an eyebrow at him. Really? That was all he could come up with? At least now she knew he had some type of weakness. She shook her head about the whole issue, but then she just put it behind her, when him and some of the men started to fight.
Once again, Amri was killing people in front of her. The thing was, she wasn't as scared this time. Of course, she didn't like the sight of it, but she couldn't complain. This time was to be expected, because these men were trying to get rid of her, most likely. One thing that surprised her though, was that he was protecting her, again.
Violet let out a small gasp as the first arrow shot at him, skimmed his shoulder. She was glad it didn't hit anywhere where it would've hurt him. She watched his movement and kept an eye on the man with the arrow. When the man raised the bow again she tried to stop him, but it was too late. The arrow had shot and went right into Amri's thigh. "Amri!" She shouted, now concerned as he fell to the ground and slid, making the man fall on top of him.
She quickly covered her eyes as Amri stuck the arrow through the man's neck. She uncovered them to find that the man was dead and she stood there staring for a moment before she ran over to Amri and knelt down beside him. She removed his hand from the wound, not caring if he would be angry with her or not and studied it. "We need to take care of this before it gets infected." She told him with that firm tone she had used before.

Amri quickly pulled his leg away from her reach. He never accepted help, especially from weak girls. Pain was nothing new to him, and a meager wound like this wouldn't stop him for a minute, "I've had worse," he said, pushing himself up from the ground and testing it out. It sent little shocks with each step, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Perhaps he would clean it out before he want to sleep that night, but he would ignore for now, it wasn't important, and it definitely wasn't the most pressing issue he had on his hands.
He gathered up Banryuu and put the purple slip back on it, somewhat regretting he hadn't been able to use it as much. It was his perfect weapon, alarming, effective, and bad-ass. What more would he want? It was the best way to show his enemies that he was stronger than them. Just carrying it would take three strong men, wielding it was...out of the question. No wonder he got so many buyers for his skills, just by looking at him walking down the path you could see he was out of the ordinary.
Maybe he should ask her if she was okay, but he realized, he didn't really care as long as she wasn't screaming. If she hadn't told him anything, then it wasn't important. "Come on, we should find a different place to talk." He still needed to ask her questions, and the sooner he could be done with her, the better. He would rather have this all behind him, but for that to ever happen he'd have to suck up now and deal with babysitting her.

Violet glared at him as he pulled away. He was so stubborn and that annoyed her. She stood up and took a couple steps back to give him room. "I don't care if you've had worse. The wound is still bad and it needs to be taken care of." She stated, now realizing she was acting like her mother. She rolled her eyes, but it was directed towards herself, not him.
She watched him stand up and she stepped a bit closer just in case he took a fall. Not that she could catch him and keep standing herself. He would probably knock her down. She kept an eye on him as he started to walk, and she could tell that it was hurting him. A wound like that would hurt anyone.
Turning away, she looked in the direction from which they came. "Amri, why did you help me?" She turned back to face him. "I thought you didn't care." When that man had grabbed her, she thought she would be taken or even killed, but he had protected her, again. Man, this boy was confusing.
Violet nodded at him. "I agree." She said simply, looking around. She didn't want to be in this area anymore, after what had just happened. "Why don't we go this way?" She asked pointing in a random direction. It really didn't matter which way they went, as long as they knew their way back and it got them away from where they were now. At least it didn't matter to her. (OOC: Sorry for the shortness XD)

Amri growled slightly when she still demanded his wound be taken care of. God, why did she care? He had already revealed himself to be an enemy, and anyway, what exactly would they wrap it up with? And they didn't really have water, or anything else to clean it out with, and he was firm in the belief he didn't need it anyway. He was a big boy, he could handle it. Already, the slight limp he had been walking with died down a bit. Hell, this was nothing compared to other wounds he had had.
"I don't care about you," he spat, "I care about your ability to talk." What was she trying to imply? That deep down he was really a big 'ol softie? If it hadn't been her who had seen him drunk, he would've let them take her...or, at least, the only reason he wouldn't have let them take her would be so he would be able to deal with her himself. If she wanted to paint him to be a good person in her mind, she had all the freedom to do so, but she would only be disappointed when the time came. A smirk came to his face, killing those guys had felt good...even if they had been easy. His muscles quivered as he thought about how much he longed for a stronger opponent, one who was worthy of fighting him. Maybe one day he would meet them, and when he beat them he would become even stronger. The stronger he became, the more worthy of life he was. That's all living was, anyway, proving you were fit enough to be allowed to set one foot after the other without question. Had he really proved himself yet?
"Fine," he said irritably, putting Banryuu on his right shoulder. Perhaps it wasn't the smartest thing to do, putting that extreme amount of weight on the side he was injured, but in his mind, he knew it would help in the future. It made each step a little bit harder, but what didn't kill him made him stronger, he was a firm believer in that. It had stopped raining, but he still needed to find a dry place to sit and ask Violet questions, and perhaps he would be able to stay in whatever dry place he found for the night. He was used to the cold, it didn't bother him.
That was when a man jumped out of the woods and knocked Amri to the ground, making the great halberd fall...right on top of his right leg.
